After a little nip and tuck on the frame rails, the body fits up nicely to it. Made two mounts per side at the rear, simple tabs, 10 more to go (this body has lots!)

The front 2 land near the edge of the frame rails so I cut a notch and tacked in a nut on each side and a cap to cover the bolt threads, finish welding needed

The center 6 mounts will be more work since I need to remove the original wood subrails and fab steel floor supports and repair some crispy cancerous spots.

Finished up welding the front body mounts, made 2 the same at the rear of the frame, 8 of 14 done...

Started assembly of the front suspension - I want to put it together, mount the engine and tranny, then I can sort out the rest of the center frame structure. After that, the old floor and wood subrails come out to fab the new steel floor/body supports.

Put the suspension together and made a couple temporary strut rods in place of the shocks and springs, since there's not enough weight on it to compress
the springs anyway...

First meeting of Ford SB and Packard, obviously the power steering pump must move inboard somewhere - most importantly, the typical front sump Ford oilpan
clears the front crossmember

attachment.php

This is more or less where it will sit, I'll need to put the front fenders and rad support on to find out if if the rad has enough clearance for the fan.

attachment.php

I want to get it as low and forward as possible to keep the floor almost flat like original

Looking good! That SBF is so far down there, you need to convince him he needs a 6-71 or something similar to fill up the engine bay ;) Maybe an 8 stack injection? :p

Can't wait to see more progress!

Loosely fitting the fenders and rad support makes one thing clear - the body is too far back!! Some nimrod can't read the tape measure
[S:confused: Oh well, not too far along to correct it - need that eaxtra inch for fan clearance, typical problem with the long water pump on SB Fords.

nice work... too bad about the body position.... oh well...

The more I look at it the more I love it. A tiny chop and a tad lower makes it look even better but the lines on them Packards are sooo good! [dr

Been busy with personal matters plus I put up this shelter by my shop - got a cheap Chinese party tent kit and sheeted it with steel roofing - 20 x 32' space that I can add the plastic walls to for priming stuff outside or just more covered workspace. I'll need to add some bracing before winter to handle snowload I think.

attachmentid=142509&d=1532744846 After forgetting the golden rule of "measure twice, weld once":( , I moved the body mounts 1" forward, now the tires are centered, mocked up the front end for visual inspiration.

Put in an old rad ( will be using a rebuilt stocker) now I can see there is just enough room for a fan to clear it, shroud needed. This is the final engine position, now I can make mounts.

attachment.php

Trial fit the Lokar shifter - I want to mount it farther forward like the stock one sitting beside it for more footroom , so the stick will need a little more bend so it doesn't hit the dash and I'll need to use a bellcrank on the linkage to make it work.
