Wanting to try and be unique with as many parts as possible I designed my own interior lights instead of buying some silly stuff from a spares shop. The inside of the car will maybe get two with one towards the front and one towards the rear. In the trunk I'll install one on each side of the trunk.

The first pic shows the lense (transparent blue perspex) and the two parts that make up the bezel (stainless steel).

The second pick shows part of the bezel's backplate which is 2mm thick. I tapped the small holes to a M4 thread and then touched them with a larger drill bit to give them a slight counter sink.

I then took some M4 machine screws of which I cut off the heads. I screwed them into the bezel backplates so that they sit at the bottom of the counter sink area as can be seen in the third pic. This will allow for enough of the welding to stay behind once it's ground off. I'm welding the 'studs' in place to ensure they can't come out.

The first pic shows the studs welded in place and the welds ground flat with the surface of the back plate.

The second pic shows the studs and also where I welded the backplates to the face plates through the large holes. That way I don't have to battle with grinding welds on the edges.

The third pic shows the face of the bezel. Here you can see the slightly smaller hole of the backplate leaving a lip where the lense will sit. Both the lense and the bezel face plate are 3mm thick which will allow the lense to sit flush with the bezel.

Now, the bezels must still be polished and the light bulb fitting must also be finished. So, stay tuned.

Very nice work. Your interior lights are something no one else will have. Makes your car all the more special. What did you use to cut such perfect Chevy logo shapes?

Uhm, yeah...I think I've been caught out...LOL. I actually had them laser cut a while ago when I had a bunch of other stuff cut. I doubt if I would have been able to do it so perfectly but I would hope to think that I could get fairly close. Especially seeing that I had 5 made.

My original idea for the bulb fitting was a bit of a flop though. I'm still busy working that one out.
