My 52 IH Rat

Well, I've finally caught up with all my to do lists and was able to get my IH in mockup mode. Last Thurs nite while drinkin some beers, my buddies and I started draggin parts into the shop and this is what my vision of it will be. Next is get some measurements and start on a frame. Heres some pics.

Think about it. If your building a true rat then you are about half done at the mockup stage

Thanks guys. I been gatherin parts for a little over a yr and plan on keepin it as simple as possible. Now that the A is done I can focus on this. Gonna do a 2 x 3 tube frame w/8" z in front and a 12" or 14" z in rear. 4 link rear, wishbone suicide front. Gonna do a 4" chop and 4" channel on body. Also gonna do 2 2bbl carbs on the tunnel ram, something differant. I should be startin on the frame by Dec so I'll keep postin pics as I go.

I took a couple days off last week and got started on the frame. I got alot further than the pics show but haven't had time to take any pics cuz I been blowin snow here about every other day. I got most of the welding done and I'm gettin ready to get rearend and front axle in it. Theres a swap meet this weekend that I hope to get some parts for it at. I went with the 8" z in front and 14" z in rear. I notched the tubes and plan to fish plate the seams for strength. I have to finish an x-brace and cap the ends yet. Heres a few pics of my progress.

Just figured I'd give a little update since I haven't been on here lately. Life has kinda got in the way the last 6 weeks [S. I have gotten the frame welded and I am ready to mount rear and front suspension. I got all the parts just haven't had the time to get in the shop to build mounts and get everything bolted into place. Hopfully within the next couple weeks I'll get some progress done and have some pics for ya.

Well, I accually got to the shop yesterday to work on the truck. I got the box cut apart so I can shorten it. I'm takin the original 8' box and makin it 4' x4' and raising the floor. I got a old ammo box to use for a battery box and a 16 gal keg for a fuel tank. Figured I'd start doin some work on the box since I'm waiting on motor parts before I can mate it to the trans and do a test fit. I see if I can get some pics in next couple days.

What the "L"? love the L series IHC. Only ugly part is the grill, and youve done away with that

Truck already looks good! You chose a good year for a binder. Can't wait to see it finished.

Heres some old pics from last summer when I got the frame done. Did 4 link in rear and 48 ford suicide in front. I got more pics of the box i just got done with last weekend. I gotta get em uploaded to computer yet.

Looks good. Keep a steady pace and it'll be done before ya know it.

Rear wheels we made. Took implement shells and put steel chevy centers into them. I have an old wheel jig so it worked really well. They are 12" wide n got N50 tires on. After puttin the box on it though they look out of proportion so I might go back to the 33's I have.

Finally got some pics of my progress last couple of Saturdays. Got box on and wood floor cut, tailgate is done, and Im workin on the rear lower filler panel now.

A few finds I got for the truck. Radiator I found at swap meet last month for $80, 16 gal keg for fuel tank and ammo box for battery. I also found an old saginaw steer box in my back room I didnt know I had...score! Last couple pics is how the tank & battery will be in box and overall view of truck so far.
