PSA. ....When I filled in the OG parking light hole I did NOT cut out a circle and weld it in. I know,. I know. Lots of weld thru primer on both pieces an it will all get a coating of Chassis saver and then Undercoating on the in side of the fender.
Call me in 30 years if it starts to rust.[ddd :D

I'm cutting a few corners as well. (So what?!?)

Rust? At the rate we're going, it'll be 30 years before it leaves the shop. :D

Nice before and after shot. Even if it wasn't deliberate. As usual, I am imprfessed. :D [cl

Today was rust repair day as well as mounting the headlight bucket for Frenching.
I suspect that every 1949 Dodge Front fender has rust in the lower corner. Got to love braces.
Everything was treated with rust converter before new metal was welded in.
I'm not sure that stuff really works but I use it anyway. [ddd
56 and sunny tomorrow. A perfect day for grinding.:D
Thanks for visiting.

Now there are two.
Also......
Made it back out to the local yard. My friend walked back in and found the Dodge. He also found a way for us to drive back there.[cl [cl [cl
Some one has been back there as the front seat was still mounted inside the car when we pulled the doors off. Now it's out and along side.[S
Dash is still complete.
The rear quarter window garnish moldings are still there.
Grill is complete and not damaged even though the front DS fender is crunched.
The mangled trim piece you see on the front pic is the windshield garnish moulding. (Which I need):(
The hood hinge system is there but the hood is mostly shot.
Rear seat cushions are there.
There is stuff I can use but not as much as I had hoped for.
Going to go back with a truck and some cash and see what I can come home with.
There is also the remains of a second Dodge as well. Dash has been sort of removed but trashed. A few little items on this one perhaps.
That's it for now.
Keep on keeping on....

I’d grab that windshield garnish anyway Torchie, I’m thinking with your skills and talent you could straighten it out. Might take a minute, but anybody that has the patience to section a car should make it look easy![cl[cl[ddd[ddd

Thanks Bama. I plan on grabbing it. I’ve got to cut it up to fit the chop anyway. Trying to find someone with a truck to get back there next weekend .

there are a lot of things I would rather do than rust repair.

get everything you think you might need off that donor! [cl[cl[cl

Got some POR 15 and then a good coat of undercoating on the inside of the fender.
Now I turn to the hood.
This hood doesn't match the car. It came from a 'Gasser" that the guy I got the Dodge body shell from, was building. He bought the Dodge to strip and use for parts to repair his deer hit gasser.
Hence the damaged hood and front fender.
To get to the damage I had to remove the hood latch system. (Bolts all frozen. Of course.[cl :D ).
I was then able to pound out most of the dent. Hard to tell from the pics. The lip of the hood is still MaGaffered and will take some tweaking.
This hood is 2 pieces with a molding down the center to hide the seam. Some one did a sort of "shave" job on the hood so I suspect it will be more bondo dust for Torchie.
We shall see tomorrow...
Thanks for stopping by.
