Door latch/handle ideas

So my door handles don't work on my 38' and instead of replacing them I was thinking I'd like to do something different. I'm not putting windows in so I was thinking some kind of interior pin system or a slide opener but can't really find any pictures or ideas.. Anyone out there have any thoughts??

check out garage door handles on ebay and see what you find.
I actually used the entire mechanism from on old interior door with glass knobs. It took a little fab, but it works great.

Im thinking more of an interior only release/handle, something like a pull pin

I took two allen key t-handles and cut them short, put collars to stop movement and then welded to a short piece of flat bar.
thats connected to a solid 1/4 " round stock that goes through the door and the post and pins the door closed.
guess I should go take a photo but it kinda looks like a the pins/mechanism from a safe on the inside of the door. In the interior you have a handle, up/down is open, flat is locked.
