Update on the frame!!! Frame is mostly done. Got the under engine crossmember built, the transmission mount done, and the brake pedal/mc fitted. Had to cut about 5” from one of the crossmembers out in order to fit the pedal assy but with the tranny mount/cross member about 10” ahead, no big deal. I will however fill that area in once the engine and tranny are out of the frame again. I ordered some control arm bushings the other day which will serve as motor mount isolators for the motor mounts I will build as no one seems to make aftermarket y-block car mounts like the sbc and sbf’s. Whenever I can finally get around to getting another rear end(it’s been raining so can’t scour our local junkyards) I can make my driveshaft hoops.

One motor mount is done, tomorrow I’ll make the other. So everyone knows what Im using for the lower brackets, it’s ford escort lower control arm bushings, some 1” pipe, and some scrap 1/4” steel. Had to remove .18” from the outside diameter to get them to slide into the pipe.

Update on the frame. Got the front end mounted, redid the transmission mount, and filled in the area I had to cut out to fit the master cylinder. I had a slight clearance issue on one of the bones, which also put my front axle off center but I figured that out today. The drivers side bone wasn’t bent enough, so a little slicey, dicey, and welded up and all is good in the world. Finally located a rear axle, which will need regeared if I wanna do Nebraska next summer. Comes with all 4 wheels, the front axle, rear axle, steering box, frame, and a few drive shafts so even though it’s more than I actually need, it’ll work out perfect. Anyhow, thats all I got until I get the rear end home. Last picture is of the f100 frame.

Went and got the f100 frame today. The rear end wasn’t a 9 inch like the guy said but it is a limited slip dana 44 so just as good as a 9. Ill start stripping that frame tomorrow after work and hopefully get the rear axle mounted on my frame.
Did it come with that fancy steering wheel, too?

Got the rear end off the frame today and got most of the rear end together for the car. Just need to make my lower coil over brackets.

Rear end is finished up so she’s a roller now. I was a little bit worried that the coilovers weren’t gonna be stiff enough as I ordered the softest they had but they’re a lot stiffer than I expected. Tomorrow I will pull the coils off the rear and drop her to the ground so I can get the correct dimensions for the driveshaft hoops. I can’t remember if I said this but the frame is set up to be used as an air tank if I ever decide to go air ride. Which is why I will drop the frame to the ground to measure for the hoops.

Center hoops are done so the frame is pretty well finished minus the radiator crossmember, headlight brackets, and front shock brackets. Need to decide what kind of shocks I want to run. What will give me a decent ride and also look correct on this car? Tomorrow I plan on cutting the cowl to fit over the tranny and I already know I will need to cut some more out of the original sub frame so I will cut the 1” tubing out of the rear and relocate them to go to the side instead of straight down. I’ll try to post more progress tomorrow for yall but for now, pictures.

Havent made any real progress lately. Ordered the radiator so I can get the rad crossmember built and the rest of the parts for the brake system today. Plan is to get the radiator in and then go after the brakes before I get the body set back on the frame. That way I’m not doing it all from below the car on jack stands. Also debating on whether or not to get the wiring harness ordered and installed before putting the body back on. Pretty much the only wiring that will go to the body will be for the ignition, light switch, gauges, and tail lights. I also figured out what steering box I am going to ise but I need to get the body mounted before I truly know how it needs to be mounted.

Front end is all finished up minus the steering. I have a slight clearance issue that will need to be adressed with the upper steering arm and the plan is to heat it up and bend it above the shock. I would show closer pictures of the friction shocks but I need to keep some details a surprise for when she is all finished up.

Radiator is now mounted. Bought a cheap aluminum rad off ebay and boy oh boy are the welds ugly. So even though I didn’t really want to use one of my model a grills, installed it to hide the fairly ugliness of the rad. Next off is to start plumbing in the brakes. I will be using a wilwood adjustable proportioning valve as I have had good luck with them in the past. Once the brakes are ran, I will install the steering box and drop the body back on the frame.
