Took it all to bare metal. Painted the red primer first, thick, then before it completely dried applied the dark grey. Putting the coats on too soon caused the grey and red to separate, looking like cracks. Wet sanded with 400. The skull is hiding a dent. Bought a bunch of them at a hobby store for $1.68 a piece. Cut it in half, filled it with bondo glass and molded it in. Coated it with fiberglass resin. The rust streaks are real. Fine steel wool soaked in vinegar and salt. Put the wool in all the holes and sprayed them several times a day with the vinegar in a spray bottle.i pushed on them several times a day, squeezing the liquid rust out and letting it run down the car. It stained good, dont wipe off.

The finish is cool but the skull kinda creeps me out. Looks like a baby's skull.
Are you using a cell phone for your pics? My old phone did my pics that way and I couldn't ever get it right. The new Iphone works great.

I'll have my car done before i can figure out how to make my pictures upright.

For some reason the forum turns vertical shots from a cell phone sideways! Try taking horizontals. That should fix it... works for me!

Car's lookin' cool but it looks like it may have some rust. On it... haha! [ddd

I really enjoy the positive comments. I myself am in love with the finish so far. Gonna try taking some more pics sideways, maybe they'll come out right. Found some cool little things cleaning under the seat. An old receipt, a mailpouch coupon, a little cardboard furniture store ad, and a matchbook. I get excited over the smallest things.

Very nice work on the patina! A word of caution on the use of acids and salts though. When using them, get the patina where you want it then make a solution of water and baking soda and wash the left over acids and salts off. They will continue to work unless you neutralize them...

I work in cemeteries, i bury people in different places 6 days a week for 14 years now. Soon as my car is done I'm taking some pictures of it in a cemetery called mountain ridge in beaver ohio. It has to be the creepiest one I've ever been in. I started working in a funeral home when i was 12. I'm going for a morbid type theme with the car.
