Picked up my headlight buckets i traded for today. Didn't know they were homemade frenched buckets someone made years ago. 5 inches deep but they fit my rotted fenders perfect minus the grinding and fiberglassing, welding and whatnot. Is 5 inches too deep? I suppose i dont need to see after dark as long as they look cool. I wont be using trim rings at all.

Maybe get a coat of primer on one tonight. Was thinking of maybe coating the inside with spray truck bed coating, but lets just see how the body work turns out first.

Got one headlight done. Painted a scallop on a fender, just to see what it would look like. I painted over it and wet sanded the fender. The red showed through so i partially uncovered it. Think I'll leave it that way.

it's looking good, keep at it. [;)

as for the hood what about a pancake job [S i did one on my 56 F100, changes just enough to make folks say "whats different about that truck"
i took 4 inches out of the front, pie cut to 0 at the rear. and in my case let a little more scoop show

Pancaking is a possibility. I've never done it, kinda afraid to without a spare hood to fall back on but im pretty sure as much as i love this car i wont let myself mess it up. I gotta be different.

This isn't the 56 but a 50 Ford shoebox front clip on an 84 mustang and yes it's quit a bit of work but i feel it's worth it.

"My grandpa told me you don't know you can do unless you try"

are hood for those cars that hard to find [S

You could "Pancake" the hood but the questions that begs to be asked is what will it do for the look of the car.
A simple custom trick is rounding off the corners of the hood. Or if you want to something really different you could weld the front of the hood shut and then reconfigure the shape of your hood opening. Pancaking the hood only lowers the profile and makes the hood flatter. Usually done on vehicles that have been sectioned or channeled and have had the front fenders raised up.

I like the raised up look, thats why im going with the straight axle, gasser front. Maybe an aluminum offenhauser scoop and mold in a skull like on the trunk but a bit bigger.
