Well this is gonna be the first project in 3 years. My youngest son and I are gonna make this his first ride! Heres what we got, a 41 Chevy truck cab, a 30 Ford A frame, 9" , stock 30 axel with spring and split wishbones, a mid
40's front axel and a buggy spring minus a few leafs for the rear, and the best part of it all is the 64 NAilhead motor and trans I have to go pull out and bring home!! All for a couple days work. spent last week cleaning up the frame a bit ( could've built another with the hours into this one) but she has numbers so hoping to make registering her easier. I was really hoping to find enough early Ford body parts to put something together for the frame and do another for the Chevy cab but so far no luck.. The plan right now is since my sons going to be driving it I want to get it low but not too low and since it looks like were gonna be using the Chevy cab I'm gonna have to raise the chop the previous owner started, which I'm gratefull they didnt finish and that I got all they cut out with it.. anyway heres a few pics of what we have and where I'm at right now..

Nice start. Good luck and a lot of ideas on this side. There is a lot of head room if you leave the floor stock and complete the chop it will look pretty good.

only downside with that is it's currently just under an 8" windshield whic I could live with but cant have him running it that way, I was only planning or raising the roof a couple inches, loosing the original seat brace, and I've been sitting out there looking at the floor and theres a couple inches of stuff that needs to come off to fit the frame anyway so not sure if I'm gonna channel it or not now..

I don't want to start any rumors, but......that looks like an old military cab. The gauge panel and the buckle at the center of the dash to hold the windshield closed [S.

you might be right it has the right guage cluster no window crank hole the buckle and also the hole above the cluster for the dash light

good call on the military thing, folks came over to isit the wife and Dad pretty much confirmed it besides the olive drap green on the inside of the firewall, the light covers and old fire extinguisher holder under the dash.. Anyway got the dash and firewall out friday and was getting ready to finish pulling the floor when I had to run the wife to the hospital, she was in worse pain than giving birth to any of our 3 kids, seems she got an infection from her Hysterectomy on tuesday. they got it under controll and let her come home tuesday night, today she actually ate real food and we went out for a walk and such so I should be back on the truck this weekend somewhat...
Anyway heres a couple pic's things look better than I expected!

the botttom corners at the fender mounts are cancered out a bit but I knew that was gonna make new panels anyway to delete the mounting holes, the floor itself isint to bad a little cancer at the back of the cab and a few hatchet marks where it looks like someone probably was attempting to drain the water. I was supprised the cowl vent wasnt all cancered out even the drain tube is solid.. calling myself luck on this one!

Well got out and played on it a bit last night, pulled the rest of the floor braces off, pulled the rockers and split her in two, still got a couple braces on the B piller to drill out then I can pull the rest of the floor off, and then I'll finish drilling out the lovely striped out clutch head screws so I can pull the doors off.. been concentrating on selling off parts and trying to raise some cash for the comikaze expo this weekendIn-laws got me 3 tickets for my Bday so my youngest son, one of his friends and myself are going to feed our inner geek :D

the steering column, gear and such from this and a mid forties solid axel, and some antique tools, which kinda sucks since I'm a natural born pack rat and had plans for things, but I always have a plan for something...
spent this morning filling out apps chasing work again, then I'd have the funds to finish this truck which would get me work. I seem to live in a catch 22 lately.. can never make money for what I want only what I need?

Well it's all in pieces now! working on plugin the holes in the firewall then I'll cut the pocket and flip it then weld it all back in for a nice recessed firewall. Still need to get some sheet metal so I can make new panels for the cowl section, and such then comes the fun of putting this puzzle back together..

Well gotta get me some more sheet metal and a better sand blaster but got the cowl cleaned up and the firewall flipped, cut, reshaped the distributor pocket wan was gona tack it all in but realized I'd be smart to wait till I got the motor and trans here to test fit it all and make sure before I get to excited and create more work for myself..
