Default front suspension

Ok, since I posted about using this for my model A and about got blasted like this is the hamb....

Looking to trade this triumph front suspension unit for parts to get a straight axle setup under my ride. I have a 41 ford axle, model a wishbones, '37 roundback spindles and not much else.

I need a spring/spring perches, some kind of steering box, disk brake kit(5 x 4 3/4bp), steering arms, shock mounts, king pins, etc.
Would consider trading for other things, as long as they are related somewhat to what I am working on- 30 model a tudor sedan. Or cash is an acceptable trade as well...

I wouldn't worry what anyone else thinks. If you want to run the independent Triumph suspension, go for it. If you want a straight axle, that's fine too. You have to be pleased with the end result.

l get flak from some on the 3Oish rat, but it drives like sports a car and is comfy.

Well, while some of the guys are the HAMB are a little..........direct () they really are just trying to steer you (no pun intended) toward a safe build. To be honest, that front end would scare me a little, and I think it would take more to freshen it up and strengthen it than it would be to just put a proper front end under your car.

There is nothing worse than an ill handling, unsafe to drive car, and, while building cars ain't the cheapest hobby in the world, brakes, steering, and suspension are not the places to scrimp.

I would take my time, find some deals on proper front end stuff, and use things that will keep your car going straight down the road. The good thing is, Ford made a bazillion of these front ends, so parts are plentiful and relatively cheap.

Don, I took it that the members on this site blasted him not the HAMB.
Probably sticking my nose where it doesn't belong though.

BUT we really try not to do that here , just very strong on safe builds.

Oh, I misread what he posted, I thought he said he was blasted on the HAMB, not LIKE the HAMB.

Even though we like to think of RRR as being a kinder, more gentle forum, (and we are) sometimes the truth needs to be said. Over the 60 years I have been playing with this stuff, I have made every mistake in the book and had to redo things a lot of times to make it right. That cost me time, work, and MONEY.

When I see someone posting something they are trying to do, and I feel it is going to not work right or be safe, I would be not a good member if I didn't try to steer them in a better direction.

I don't think I was involved in the original thread on that front end, but I think I would have had to say something about not using it. To adapt that and to make it right and safe would take a heck of a lot more work than simply finding the correct front end parts and installing them.

Sometimes the truth hurts and isn't what someone wants to hear, but it is still the truth.

Everything you need is in the Speedway catalog brand new. Lots easier to use new stuff than try and clean up and adapt old used parts with an unknown history. I wouldn't skimp on front suspension and steering components.

Probably not what you want to hear, but the safest way is not always the cheapest....
