May as well start a build thread. I have collected enough parts to get me started. Using a 1935 International Harvester semi / truck cab, hood, and grille. I may use the front fenders also... not sure yet. Nabbed a 1972 Chevy C20 with a 402 big block, Turbo 400 trans, Dana 60 rear axle. I have some 2x4 tubing for the frame. Straight axle for the front. So far I have spent most of my time getting the cab in order. Just getting the doors to open and close was a major step. Started chopping it ... don't expect this to move along to fast.. I have a wife, two kids and a dog that keep me busy. Besides that I don't have much of a shop during the winter months.

Here are some pics as the body began.. I will keep updating as things progress although I am guessing it is going to take awhile.

Looking Good! How much did you remove?
I like how you cut the rear first!

I took out 3 1/2 inches. I wanted to be a "big man" and take out at least 4 and even thought about 5 but the way it sits right now looks right to me.

Thanks for the compliment on the chop... I have been pondering it for quite awhile. The way the roof is joined to the rear section made that decision easy, it will sure eliminated a lot of visible welds. The rear window idea just came to me today. Actually I wasn't even going to mess with it but I like the way it turned out. I still need to lengthen the roof so the front pillars join up along with lengthening the door pieces. I considered laying the pillars back but I don't think it would look right. Hopefully before my Xmas vacation is over I can get this all welded back up.

Looks really good!

Powerplant,
Love the patina & don't worry about takin' a while... it always does! Chop lots just right!

Very cool lookin truck dude.
I will follow this build thread till you get it done. Just take your time and do it the way you want to do it. That is where it counts.

It is going to look too cool when you're done.

Nice Project.....

That's a cool cab and a great project start.
Looking forward to your progress, keep the photos coming. '22

Good to see you got a running start, are you going to make like P/U or like a faux-semi?

Pickup.. I considered using the 2.5 ton chassis it came off of but it was just to darn big for what I want.

Check out this picture... I am considering something like this..

Couple more chop pics from today. Split the roof to align with the windshield posts. I should be welding up the fillers tomorrow and hopefully getting the door pieces lengthened to match.
