No. At least I'm 99% sure, no. Cars went to 5x4.5 in 49. Trucks stayed 5x5.5 for-ev-er. Assuming all is still stock.

The 1% got you Skip. They WILL fit if they are truly '49 Mercury wheels. While Ford passenger cars went to 4.5" in 1949, Mercury stayed with the larger 5.5" bolt circle through 1950. Easy enough to do some measuring...
