Just picked up a 51 flatty v-8 and three spd trans from a F1 pickup. My question is has anybody put an aftermarket floor shifter on one of these? The trans is very short with basically just the seal housing for a tail. No tail housing with any mounting provision for the shifter. AS ALWAYS ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.[;)

These trans are not really set up to put an after market floor shifter on them.
As you say there is no tail shaft and that is usualy where all the brackets mount. Plus the shifter ends up being very close to your leg.
That is why most people go with the 39 Ford top loader trans behind a flatty or something like a T-5. Or find a 4 spd top loader trans from a truck with an open drive line. But be aware that first gear is usually a granny gear.
Torchie.

Thanks Torchie, I have a 4-spd out of a 48 F-3, its behind a flat 6 cyl. I'll see if it will bot to the V-8 bellhousing[;)
