Well Ladies and Gents.... I've been asked to work on a project for a dear friend of mine. He's been wanting to get this going for quite sometime, but just hadn't been able to, so in hopes of bringin his dreams to reality I offered my services :D! What can I say, I'm a sucker for Chevys....

Not keeping the rust on this one, but it's going to be flat flat flat black, and I figured you all would enjoy the ride...:D

I present to you: Project Mali-velle!

I'm hoping you're talking about a Malibu with Vette suspension and running gear, not putting Vette body panels on a Malibu...............

Those 67 SS hoods are hard to come by, too.

You guys might want to have your eyes checked. I read it the same way at first, but the title is actually Mali(bu)-(Che)velle! My favorite year for those cars, by the way. Carry on, Crusader !!! :)

Mali-Velle......ok.....question...

Isn't a Che-velle and a Mali-bu the same type of car?? Isn't the Malibu a model of Chevelle? Or did I really miss something here??? Lord it's tough getting old..[S

Yeah, no kidding...

At first I thought it said Mail-vette and thought, what the ... Then Mall-vette, and then the tired old eyes FINALLY focused.

My guess would be it is a plain ole (if there is such a thing) Chevelle being turned into a Malibu? Or t'other way round. No fair fostering our senility, CC13 !!! :D

What a Can of Worms I have opened????

HAHAHAHHAHAA[cl You guys are GREAT!!!!

And Dave... sir you are correct, I kept reading the replies thinking, where did Vette come from? hahahahaha..... :D

Anyways..... I think the Malibu is under the Chevelle name... At least I have seen it that way... however when I ran the VIN through the ID process it said Malibu for the car type... so Someone with more car knowlegede and expirence in hte historical arena will have to fill in the blank for you guys there.... I just thought another bild title Chevell... or Malibu would get lost, so I combined the two names.... :D Apparently it worked, as you guys are now very interested in what I have going on ....

More Questions Answered...

I took some photos to try and clear up some fog floating around here....

The dash has this nice badge.... there are some other emblems I need to pick up from the owner...

I also noticed that there is body filler filling a row of what appear to be factory holes inside the door just below the beltline where the doors roll down, I'm assuming that someone remove the original SS trim and had the car painted.

When I married my wife she was driving a 1972 Chevelle that had the Malibu emblems on it. I always thought that they were a model type like SS or whatever. Upon further research it shows that Malibu was a trim level or subseries of the Chevelle until 74 when it became its own car. So Sarge you are correct....Sort of.:)
I like the 67's as well. When I was growing up we had a neighbor hood family of 3 boys that each had a "Muscle" car as their parents were divorced and this was their rich daddy's way of compensating for his lack of interest
The youngest brother had a 1967 Chevelle SS with a built to the max 396 in it. Every morning I would wake to the sound of him cranking that beast over trying to get it to fire up. You know that slow over cammed engine cranking sound that I am talking about.[cl
And when it did finally fire every window on the block rattled.
Ahh....The good old days.
Torchie.

More Photos....

The old car is in really good shape for its age....

The rockers are so good, it looks like they have been replaced, but I think they are original, the front fenders are solid and the upper rears are good, but she will receive a pair of rear fender and quater treatments to bring all the metal back solid... I will also remove the body filler in the doors and metal that in, since the trim will not return, I noticed cracks in the bodt filler on the driverside... with rust around the area, so that will definately be fixed.

There are some small arears where the door pillars meet the rockers that will need a little attention. And the other large repair is the floor boards... someone already cut those out, or chewed them out LOL!

Anyway... that's about it for the body....

Wheels, Tires, brakes, Etc....

Wheels, currently are soem steel Ralleys with corvette hubcaps... looks like they will change to a deep dish smoothie according to the owner :D He is going for a hot rod look....

So, the front will drop to envoke a nice rake, may possibly drop the rear a little... Will also be upgrading to disc al the way around :D

The plan is to make this a nice driver, where the owner can put A LOT of miles on this puppy!

Cool, factory SS bucket seat console car! CC, the Super Sport emblems go on the the rear fenders, not the doors. May have had a bump strip on the doors. I had a 66 Malibu, bench seat powerglide car with a 283, but always like the 67's better.

I still like my idea of using a Vette suspension under it! You could call it a Chevette :eek:, no wait,.....they already used that name!:D

Looks like a fun car with little work to be a driver. If your not using the hub caps, would buy the three lug spinners from you, not the full cap just the spinners, might look good on the sprint with the rally caps [S and it would drive the vette guys crazy [cl

Can't say I've seen the square header flanges...

Here are some more pics of the interior, exterior, etc....

BTW... does anyone know where to get suare header collectors like in the photo? I have another set of headers I was going to use ona project... but I'm missing the collectors...[S (last pic)

could they be a modification to try and stop the inherent leaks from the three bolts? Just wondering....
