Next, I repurposed the radio opening in the dash and mounted an aftermarket shifter with a custom made bracket. I choose this location to maintain seating for three on the bench seat.

Since the powerglide that I am using is equipped with a transbrake and manual valve body, i modified the shifter with a neutral lock out. With all the shifting between first and second gear, I want to avoid unintentially winding up in neutral. I drilled and tapped a small hole in the shift gate and installed a machined bolt to provide the extra gating.

The exhaust is made up of a couple of race mufflers backed up by stainless steel glass pack style pipes.

There is a lot more clearance between the exhaust and the gas tank here than the picture would indicate and I know from past experience that the Magnaflows are barely warm to the touch.

I have only seen these mounted to the frame without the cradle.

Very nice and outside the box! Sold my 57 Single cab a few years ago because it was such a slug. Your frame looks terrific. thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much!

I managed to get a few things done today. A little progress is better than no progress. Pulled the distributor and spun the oil pump to prime the engine. Started installing the carb and noticed that the factory supplied air cleaner will not fit. Ordered and spacer to raise up the air cleaner and also a bracket for the throttle cable and one piece fuel line for the holley carb.

It is possible to get the air cleaner base in place, but it is jammed up against the distributor.

Very interesting build. You are doing some great work. It may be over used but you are truly thinking out side of the box.

this thing is bananas! I drove a later bus and the thing I remember was getting right up on someone before changing lanes, literally looking at the rear parcel shelf of the car you were passing. somehow I dont think that is possible with this one [cl
