I don't think I'd try to straighten that rod out, cold, I'd want to heat it first before I fixed up for re-use.

Yup! We were taught to hold it down until it was red...If you were over run then hold it down until it was white and you could see the rounds going through the barrel![cl

We actually stretched a barrel getting it white...

We were on range for training. When the training was over, our armory squad was told we couldn't take any live ammo back...no problem, SIR!
