Torchie, I've got a place I anchor a pulley across from the doorway and 150 ft rope I use to get stuff up into the barn by myself. It works pretty good.
Kiabota huh!!!
I put a big eye-bolt in the bottom stringer on the back wall of my shop. I use a comalong and chain to drag things in. I am watching for a cheap 110 electric wench. No room in my back yard for pushing with anything but me. Its only a couple inches of "up" at the door, then things roll easy again.

improvisation is the salve of a lubricated mind!

I used to keep a big tire around just for pushing stuff, put it between the bumpers and push! lately I am getting good using the "roll the rear tire" method, it works a lot better than I would have thought, even trucks with cabs and engines I can push up the slight incline into my garage.

your place looks like a little slice of heaven torchie!

I have used that method before joedoh but when I was in better shape.[ddd

It is our little slice of heaven. 5 acres. Mostly woods. Dirt road that is barely above a two track. Bees hives. Wildlife and Mrs Torchies flowers...
Few neighbors that all have 5-10 acres as well. Nice and quiet till the guys across the road come up and spends 3 days cutting his field grass lawn.LOL

Thanks for the comments gang.:D
It helps keep me going especially on mornings like this........
I may have overdone it a little bit yesterday...LOL

Moving forward.( or backwards:eek: )
My plan to plunder parts from the 49 Plymouth that sits in my friends pasture maybe a bust.
According to people on the Classic Mopar site the sheet metal from the 49 Plymouth won't work on the 49 Dodge. it seems that the Dodge is a bigger car.
I have found 49 Dodge rear fenders for sale, so that shouldn't be an issue. BUT...the hood on my Dodge is pretty mangled from a deer hit.
My local yard has the donor 49 Dodge but of course that hood is Mangled as well ( Most likely from a deer hit :p )
They also have several Plymouths so I may try to get back there this weekend with a tape measure.
Keep on keeping on....

2nd post of the day.

I couldn't take the duct taped fender any longer so I broke out the welder and gave it a few tacks to hold it in place.[;)
While i was at it I worked on getting the trunk lid to close and latch. Looks like somebody tried to jack uo the body using the lip of the trunk floor.
As few whacks and now it closes and latches. Not perfect but ok for now.
Tomorrow is going to be a wooden boat day.
Thanks for looking in...

Here we go......

Started to work on the Dodge this morning.
Pic 1 shows the car at it's starting height. No gas tank. No engine.
Pic.2 This is after I put 3" lowering blocks under the rear and one 60lbs sand bag in the trunk.
Also 4 60lbs sand bags on the front suspension.
I would have torched the front springs to bring it down more but ran out of acetylene:eek:
Pic. 3. Just for giggles I stuck some early 50's Olds wheel covers on.
Pics 4-6. When I pulled the rear quarter windows out I found this. 2 different style window regulators. The top one is the DS. They looked to be factory installed.[S
That's it for now.
Thanks for stopping by.....

OK, one Plymouth one Dodge???

LOL Who knows OI. I thought that perhaps one was an early production vs late but these car were mid year releases (1949 Second series) so that would be kind of hard.
I posted something on the Classic Mopar site but have yet to receive a response.

I spent about an hour looking at what will have to be done to chop this car.
Looks like the rear window package tray is going to have to come out. I am learning a lot as I have never spent much time on a Mopar of this vintage. They definitely did things differently then Ford or GM.
Pic to follow.
Torchie.

Here is some of the internal bracing that will have to be removed before i can begin the chop.
The rear window package tray is interesting and then there is the roof brace that ties into the B pillars. That brace is bolted in.
Made a run to town this morning and got a full tank for the Mig welder as well as full tanks for the torches.
Going to hang some tarps up to keep the boat and car dust to them selves.;)
That's about it for today as it has gotten hot and muggy again.
Thanks for checking up on me......

Regarding the differences between the 2 window regulators.
I got one response from the Classic Mopar site [cl
The response was that MAYBE one was a left over from the 1948's and the other one was a 1949.
The internet isn't what it used to be........

Nothing exciting to report. Continued with the chop prep. Pulling out old windlace as well as the wiring that runs thru the DS A pillar and up over the door to the trunk.
Also removed the metal pieces that go over the door and down the B pillar that were covered in upholstery.
I found a Parking lamp cover inside one of the doors and I will have to put something over the rear seat tap that sticks up from the floor.
Hoping to get the package tray cut out later today and start the bracing.
