after selling my 72 challenger 10 years ago i got out of the car scene and filled my need for speed with sand drag atvs, last october i got the bug after seeing a few rat rod trucks, dug around of the net a little and got inspired by boneheads ride.so i bought my a 39 dodge and went to town.its chopped 5",channeled 4",i moved the cowl back and shortened the doors about 3",the frame is 2x4x3/16 with a 5"front and 20"rear z.used a speedway 6" drop axle and a shure grip 9 1/4 dodge rear end with a custom built triangulated 4 bar and progressive coil overs.i used a 68 dart manual box and set it up for cowl steering.rolls on MT sportsman sr tires.engine is a 440 mopar, thinkin about doing a 512 stroker with aluminum heads and a hyd roller cam, tunnel ram with dual 4's and zoomie headers.3000 stall and 4.10 gears.its not going to be a true ratrod i guess but im building what i like and going to drive the wheels off of it:D

great lookin ride..

did you move the cowl back and shorten the doors to line your chop back up?

cool looking truck.

how well can you see outta the windshield:D:
thanks for the compliments, looking out the wind sheild isnt too bad but i can see were seeing stop lights could be a issue if you pull up too close:D might have to get one of those traffic viewers.

yes i moved the cowl back to line the roof up,and shortened the back of the doors,my doors didnt line up very good before i started and it helped out,if i did another straight cab i think id angle the posts or add a strip in the middle though.it was my first chop job and i got alot of good info from this forum.

thats cool that you did it that way.. i wondered if it could be done that way.. in my head i thought it could.. now i know yes it can...

I just finished my first chop too, the forum is definitely a great place for info

WOW! that was one awfully PINK truck when you started...Having two daughters it make me think of Barbie. ;) Nothin' at all girly about that puppy now, tho![ddd Oh yeah, I dig your door hinge pin, that's ratrod engineering right there!:D

Keep postin' pics cuz we love 'em.

Regards,
Shea:)

Just awesome! Nice to see another Dodge on here! Even nicer to see a Dodge that does not have a Chevy motor in it![ddev

Check out my ongoing "Crustbucket '46" build sometime..

ive been getting a little more done.i still have some work to do on the box,i plan on mounting the radiator in the back towards the front of the box and have just the fans stick up out of the top panel a bit.also need to add some sort of a door to get to the fuel cap.im thinking about using a flip up door off a new challenger.i need to get to work on the headers next, then i should be able to blow it apart and finish the chassis, and start working on getting the cab finished up.then on to the drive train.i need to get a couple of carbs for the tunnle ram.i was hoping to have it done before the snow flies but it looks like itll be ready to go by next spring and give me lots of time to do it the way i want
