With the 51 gone and the Diamond T a week out and the Nash in limbo for now I tore into the 52. Got the cab off and in the garage. The little lady is calling the shots on this one, plans: 3" chop like the 51, only with a twist. removing 6" all the way around the truck, bed, running boards and front clip are going back on. dropping 3" . 350 w/th400 and (you migth want to sit donw or just quit ready now) paint in purple  Starting the 3" chop tomarrow. looked for pics to load, I have none by it self.

Thank's Tripper this is one of my favorite pics. My motorhead grand son peeked around the corner of the 49 window when in snaped it. oops said the m word.

Well the cab is 3" shorter. Cut the top off and is sitting back on. Got some triming and fitting to do. maybe start welding back together tomarrow. Just relized I foregot pics. Did some vids, I will load them In a couple days.

This should be good! I like the color choice.

Thanks Larry, the wife saw a purple one on CL and it does look cool.

When you do a chop like this, did you have to section the roof?

You don't have to section the roof but you do have to do alot of work on to door. I did change a couple of the cuts I did on the 51 some worked some just made more work. The cuts that worked are the cut on the back of the cab and cutting at the inside corner of a pilar. I have been doing video and will start posting that on YT this weekend. It will give you a better idea of what I did and why.

so for the 6" section are you taking it out of the middle or up in the hood side area? just trying to visualize it all. [;)[P

Sorry I was a little unclear about the 6" I will be removing it from the bottom of the cab. I have to redo the floor and the atypical ford rust in the lower parts of the cab. also I will remove 6" from the bottom of the bed and rear fenders and 6" on the back side of the wheel well on the front fenders this will make the front of the fenders plane out with the back. The plan is to have the truck on an even plane and no rake.

pretty interesting way to go at it. placing the weld were you did in the rear area of the cab is a great ideal. not sure of your finished look, will the weld be a visible bead or do you grind to blend the two together?

Needed a break from the DT so I did a little welding on the cab today. Next time I'll cut the front like I did on the 51. Has about a 1/8" dip that will need filler but nothing major.
