Thanks guys. Here is my kid. He is really happy, but he puts on his serious face for pictures these days.

Good looking kid, Must get it from his mother's side!..........Just kiddin.......You have experienced one of the best times that you can have with a child.....Congrats on a great job!:D:D:D.........CR

Bonehead, my 16 year old is thrilled with his older car too. School started here this week and he's happy as a lark to be driving his Duster. All of his friends drive imports and I thought he would want one too once he started seeing some of the high tech stuff they have, but nope...he's content. He is pestering me for more cubic inches though.

We were talking about it this morning over breakfast. My son says there are 3 1979 Ford pickups, a early Bronco, a 69 Mustang, and a Volkswagon van at the highschool. He didn't mention the other 500 cars.

Good job Gastrick, thats the kind of smile my kid has when he is driving his.

We liked the build so much we decided to do it again. My son's truck was taken (read Stolen) by a friend, (read ex-friend) and wrecked. Through a telephone pole, and rolled twice. (in two seperate accidents) The kid walked away, but the truck is a total loss.
Sometimes life deals you a bucket of stuff, (read poop).

sorry to hear about that bonehead, that was a really cool truck and reminded me of what my older brother always dreamed of owning

and really hate to hear that the friend (read ex-friend) wasn't at least banged up a little -you know things like that would seem to get the point across....[ddd:D

is there any chance of restitution from the friend (ex-friend) or his family?

hope to see another build thread on the next one, too[P

Well, 3 things on the positive. You didn't have that much time and money wrapped up in it, your son surely learned an important lesson about 'friendships', and it wasn't your son that trashed it in 2 accidents.

Hope that kid is miserable for awhile - financially, physically, or emotionally. A little suffering is sometimes life's best teacher.

My guess is we will never see a dime, or even an offer of help from the driver, or his parents. So we will take the loss and re build. We started stripping parts this morning, and should be done a little later today.

Very cool my boy just turned 16 he helps me with my projects, but he cant make up his mind for what he wants for him self to much girl crazy i geuss.

What a shame Bonehead! That was a cool looking truck. On a more positive note, now you get to spend more time with your son and that makes it all OK!!...CR

We started on the re-build this weekend. We took the wreck apart to see what was left. We have one rim, two tires and a couple of seats. The engine is probably okay, but the fan went through the radiator.

I thought of doing a similar build with this truck (the truck in my sig - the project) but with house and g/f and long distance family - I'm trying to sell it. No one's biting, so I guess I'm going to have to wire everything up, maybe build a flatbed, and then if it still won't go - then I'll make it stock height again... :(

Nice build though - I love the pre-80's bodies on the American trucks!!

Man Bonehead, that made me a little sick in the mouth. You said 2 different accidents, did he roll it then keep going an hit a pole, or hit the pole and then keep going and eventually roll it? Or did he take the truck twice? Man that really is sickening to look at. Hope that kid gets a beat down. Eat the curb type beat down.

WTF! I'm really an easy going guy, but I do have my limits. I could see losing it, and winding up in jail over that. Guess you gotta set an example for your son though.

That kid woulda been dead if you hadn't built that thing up and he probably has no idea....

How's your son handling it?

He hit about a 8-10 inch pole and sheared it off, then 4 miles later rolled it twice.
My son has been sick off and on since. We started a new truck. I picked up a different cab, and a stepside off a 56 Ford. We should have it up and running in a week or two.
