Love the dash colors.[cl
Maybe we should start a new section on here about old farts and their surgeries.....;)
And as hard as I know it will be for you. Take it easy on the knee and let it heal right but you already know that as it is your 2nd.:)
Nothing to add about the fuel pump noise as I can barely hear my cars running anymore.

Torchie.

The Holly I could hear it over the engine and that the motor was LOUD - well over 100 dba on the road (yeah I measured it). Could not hear the pump in the passenger seat even at idle.

The Edelbrock Quiet Flo I can hear clicking when I turn on the key, so I know it's working. Can't hear it at all after the engine starts.

So, not as quiet as the in-tank modern pumps, but, I think it is as quiet as a pump mounted to the frame can get.

A friend put a Mallory in his '40 Ford - it's pretty quiet as well.

So, on the positive side with the knee - you'll have plenty of time to do the bucket engineering and get everything worked out so when you can get back on it you'll be able to fly through the rest of the build.

A new section for what part fits best? And where to get it? I hope they don't use rusty stuff, slick and shiney would work better! [ddd

As to the fuel pump, I have been using the Mr Gasket /Purolater style pumps the last few years, I think the Mr Gasket is model 12S. They are much quieter that the Holley style pumps, and seem to hold up well. I had one on the 302 in the Maverick, it never had a problem keeping up with 5500-6500 rpm bursts. I've got one now on the 350 in the Lincoln, same thing. You can just hear it when you turn the key on, but when the car is running it's quieter than the exhaust. Might not be good enough for a large racing engine, but they seem to work well for street use. Mine is mounted on a thick aluminum drop bracket, bolted to the crossmember in front of my fuel tank. I didn't even use any rubber to isolate it.

Things are coming along pretty well! :) Sorry to hear about the knee....I have to go in for revision surgery on a knee I had replaced about 5 years ago. I twisted it really hard and the poly spacer and kneecap got turned around some. Kepp at it.....I enjoy watching your progress. :)

yo roger
how are you?
seems like you keep getting the fuzzy end of the lollypop healthwise.
(telepathically sending wishes for speedy recovery)

Haven't checked in here in a while, build is looking great, really like how the dash is coming out.

Sorry to hear about the knee... That's bummer

Slowly but surely getting there. I really hate being laid up but I hope
it's for the better in the long run.

Thanks for thinking of me.
How's life in the cold country?

Thanks, not much work going on around here for a while.
Maybe after Christmas I'll be able to do a little.

Cabin fever.

I was going completely whacky sitting around doing nothing so I hobbled
out to the shop and built me a throttle/transmission kick down cable bracket.
Took me 2 days but I got it made and installed working a little at a time.

Now my knee is swollen up so I guess I'm done again for a while.
Nothing spectacular but it's progress.

Looks like a store bought piece, but much stronger!

That's the way to do it Pops, find something small you can sit and do, take your time, and have fun.

Thanks guys.
When I built my '48 I bought Lokar cables, brackets, shifter and e-brake and it cost me over $600 and I ain't gonna do that again.
A little scrap, a little time = a better bracket.

Sarge, I'm just really bored with the PT and Dr appointments, etc.
I was sitting on the back steps playing fetch with the dog today and she
got bored with me too and walked off. What's a body to do?

POPS you are as bad as me.[ddd
I'm so bored I'm baking Christmas cookies which I haven't done since I closed my bakery.
p.s. The bracket looks great. Take care of your self.:)

Man, can I relate to that. You've got a way better kick down bracket than you could have bought. Did you figure out the NOKAR e-brake yet?

Nice work.

Thanks Torchie.
Christmas cookies work.
We are going to have a better year in 2015. Just need to stop and
count our blessings every once and a while.

I've got a vague plan in mind. I think I'll have enough room to put a
floor mount horizontal E-brake between the seats. When I get where
I can, I'm going shopping at the U Pull It yard.

Sometimes a break is good, it refreshes the mind and body and gives you time to think things out. I'm currently on a break myself, money is always tight this time of year, so no parts are being bought. Plus, not having an enclosed workspace, I'm at the mercy of the weather, I'm under a roof, but no walls so the cold is also holding me back.

Currently planning the power steering conversion for springtime. While you guys are on the mend, you can be figuring out where you're going when you are able to get back on it. It won't be long, it just seems like it is.
