    Dream Shop

I purchased the same Tig welder for myself...seems to be a nice piece so far. I agree with Dr Crank...it's going to take a lot of practice. My last project was challenging enough on it's own regardless of welding choice. Starting with the Tig, I eventually fell back to a Mig to finish up. It is...

    Guess I got the bug....

Lol...I promise you there is more rust than paint on this one. It appears at some point someone sprayed the body with some matte clear. I just now went over it with some rattle can Navy Blue color...not trying to get full coverage, but rather spot spraying a little heavier in various places. I...

    Guess I got the bug....

Got the window regulators repaired and waiting on some window run channel so I can get the glass back in the doors. I have all the lights/signals operational now...working on getting all the gauges relocated to the dash so they can be viewed while driving. I'm thinking about trying to add a bit...

    A penetrating oil tip!

Never tried the acetone mix...atf works great on it's own. Another tip I have employed storing carburetors...fill the float bowls with atf and all the gaskets will never dry out or shrink. When ready to use again simply empty and bolt on.

Here is the gear in case the weld does not work out... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Chevy-GMC-Truck-Window-Regulator-Gear-1934-1946/273168025451 I'm only replacing the broken passenger glass and yes, I ordered real glass ($45). If the situation had called for both I likely would have...

    Guess I got the bug....

Actually, these windows are the easiest and most uncomplicated I have ever dealt with. If I had the parts on hand this would already be finished. What's aggravating is I now have the truck at a point to where it is no longer driveable again, but I did plan on doing these things during the cold...

    window regulators

Other than the gear itself I have been unable to locate a driver side regulator.

    Guess I got the bug....

Yeah, I'm pretty satisfied with it, but I don't think the same idea is going to work on the front. Leaning towards bending/shaping some sheetmetal with cooling holes now...we'll see. The next project I'm wanting to get out of the way before that is to get the turn signals and door windows...

It's able to drive again and it aint leaking...guess that's all I can ask. :p

    window regulators

While pondering the regulator repair I tackled the door glass/frame. Turned out to be not much issue with only two rivets holding the bottom channel to the main hoop. Although these frames are in poor shape I think they will still be useable after some rust removal...the main thing is to get the...

    window regulators

There are only two points of attachment...it can't be installed incorrectly as there is no adjustment. I can get another gear easily...why not replace it? If it were the door handle side you would not be able to affect such a repair...luckily that part is also available. I'm guessing nobody has...

    window regulators

You see what the rat truck looks like...not too concerned with looks. Besides, the window itself does not rub against anything being in a frame. If it did even a glass version would be scratched beyond belief in short order. I was considering lexan for the weight savings as it would greatly...

    window regulators

I'm thinking I would rather just replace the entire gear. Ordering some new window run channel and another window glass for the passenger side...might consider using lexan no more than these will be used. Windows stay down better than 95% of the time anyway. I just want the ability to roll them...

    window regulators

Working on this '46 Chevy cab trying to get the door windows operational. After getting everything apart I found the driver side regulator is damaged, but the window is fine. The passenger side regulator is good, but the glass is busted. Just looking to get these operational for cold or wet...
