    disappearing coolant

I have used blue Felpro gaskets in the past too, and never retorqued them. The other day, after I drained and flushed the system and installed fresh green antifreeze I let it run long enough to open the thermostat, then drove it a few miles. It has no overflow catch tank, just the stock tube to...

    disappearing coolant

I was mistaken about the "steam" out the tailpipe. Today was the first cold day, 20 degress colder, that it has been started. Quite a bit out the pipe. Not that I can tell but until today I had been running almost 100 percent water. Today I drained it and put antifreeze in because temps in the...

    disappearing coolant

First post in almost 2 years. I had no idea it had been that long, but... Our '40 Chevy two door sedan, that we've had since I found it in a local junkyard in 1980, has a '62 model 261 six that I installed a few years ago. The engine had 40,000 miles on it when rempved from the school bus and...

    Another Studebaker I our fleet

My brother-in-law wanted a Studebaker C-cab truck after I started driving mine. I found him a '49 almost 2 years ago. Whenever got around to doing anything to it, so about a month ago I got it from him. It still has the 169 ci flathead six. I believe it only has 84,000 miles on it. The last time...

    First post in a while

I will be using a two piece driveshaft, like a '58-64 Chevrolet car because the Pontiac has an x- member in the frame.

    My bracket now.

Master cylinder for our '41 Pontiac

I've got the bracket made, just gotta finish welding, clean, and paint. I now have an 80's Chevrolet truck (1/2 ton 2wd) rear axle assy to use, so as soon as I get it installed I'll rebuild all the brakes, including all new metal & rubber lines. The brakes will be finished.

Little things on our '41 Pontiac

I plan to check into that, thanks. Guess I'll try the Radio store place for some knobs.

Little things on our '41 Pontiac

It might be crazy but I usually do some little things as I go on a big project. The last few days, I've been restoring the underdash part of the heater controls and defroster. I chose silver/gray hammered finish. The knobs are all present but cracked with age (like me). I suppose they could be...

Master cylinder for our '41 Pontiac

I've mocked up a cylinder on our Pontiac. I'll probably use a smaller one though. I'll make the mounting bracket using the two holes where the original cylinder mounted, under the new cylinder in my pics. The pedal will clear on the engine side and the lines clear on the frame side. The pushrod...

    The covers for our Pontiac

We have decided on these Packard covers. We like the two center stickers shown, undecided between them. I'm thinking the red ones.

    My wheel cover collection

Turns out my unidentified covers are 56-58 Corvette with the wrong spinners. I might sell them.

    My wheel cover collection

I posted a couple of pics in another thread of a set of wheel covers. Here's some more in my collection. The set on the right are the first ones that I now know are '55 Dodge Lancers. One of the other sets is obviously Packard. The set with the three bar spinners look like '57 Cadillac, but no...
