Can you use one leaf spring from a parallel leaf spring set up for a traverse spring if the eye to eye is correct by redrilling the center bolt hole so it is in the center of the spring pack and all leaves are centered?[;)

Just picked up a 51 flatty v-8 and three spd trans from a F1 pickup. My question is has anybody put an aftermarket floor shifter on one of these? The trans is very short with basically just the seal housing for a tail. No tail housing with any mounting provision for the shifter. AS ALWAYS ANY...
