I can remember gas wars in the 50's when gas was .05 cents. I bought my first car,a 31 A for $45.00 with spare motor and trans. I bought a 49 Merc 2dr. with a broke starter for $10.00. Man, bein' poor was fun back then. Here's some pumps I restored. Notice the price board on the tall American.

It takes all kinds. Less affluent doesn't mean we have less Rods and it doesn't mean we're having less fun. I have more fun scrounging to find parts to put together than I do just ordering a bunch of new stuff. There's nothing more satisfying than taking a bunch of parts someone has tossed aside...

Here's a rough sketch I did a few years ago. It would take some cuttin', but could be a cool rod.

I bring parts in the house. Nice parts on the main floor in the office. Also in the spare bedrooms and in the basement. I have some outbuildings for the not so nice parts. And the rusty crap I still wanna keep I pile in the back yard
