I've proclaimed 2016 - the year I finally start taking the Studebaker apart and putting it back together. Been gathering parts, cleaning up and assessing what's there, determining what to do. Settled on and purchased '78 Camaro subframe, started the build of a mid-'80's 454 Chevy - going to go...

It'll be awhile before I get to the drive train - all the while keeping an eye out for the right motor. A stude V8 would rock!

One of my older brothers had a convertible '68. I've always like the look of the convertible's hard top.

Great build thread - have to admit, I've been reading it like a comic book (in other words - looking at the pictures).

Budget builds are the best - no need doing what everyone else is. Plus if you are careful and need to or just decide to sell getting more of your money back is an added bennifit. Good luck, keep the pictures coming.

Thanks, it going to be a slow process, still planning (what the heck I'm going to do) and gathering (parts, pieces, info)... One thing for sure - those parking lights are coming off of the tops of those fenders! This truck was used as a tow truck. Maybe I'll mount a couple I'd spare tires on...

Got a bed - still sorting out frame options. Leaning toward Camaro 2nd Gen front subframe.

Funny how seeing a remembered make/model can take you back. I always remember seeing one of my high school coaches bouncing into the school parking lot in his red/orange C-cab Studebaker pickup (circa 1974).

I've had it for about a decade and a half - have driven it as a daily driver - my son drives it more than me now-a-days. I crank it up for a short cruise every so often - still one of the best used cars I've ever bought.
