I used the Speedway reversed Corvair box on mine. It works good after I got it adjusted (tightened up). Seems to be a very limited selection of steering arms for them though. I'm sure there's other stuff out there that you could make work. I suppose it depends how much time you want to spend...

I think if you use a shackle you also need a real lower arm or theres nothing to control the caster. Axle will want to pivot on the upper mount. Seems like weird thing might happen under braking when the axle wants to wind up. Here’s what I did. Mounted the whole spring inside the frame rail...

Sorry, didn't take any before pics. It was just an old 4 door with rusty floors and frame. As a whole not a very atractive car, at least to me. My dad got it for the nailhead engine and was going to throw the rest away. I liked the look of the tail lights and little rear fins and an idea was born.

Same in Iowa. It is very corrosive and gets in EVERYWHERE. Makes vehicles unsafe. Rots brake lines, frames & suspension components, even bridges. Auto makers don't care, they get to sell more cars. I wonder if consumers would have a chance with a class action suit against the state?

In those frame pics you might see where I had to widen the rear frame section. I was using an A-body rear end and had a G-body frame and arms available. I needed to add a few inches to get suspension mounts to line up. Anything is possible with a little ingenuity.

I did what Phil Cottingham did. I used enough of the factory frame to mount the rearend and built the rest of my frame around that. Sorry the pics loaded sideways.

Is there a slot in the mounting bracket where it mounts to the block or on the front side of the pump behind the pulley?
