Another 250 chevy question

I have a chance to buy a nice low mileage 250ci motor for my 51 styleline. The motor came out of a 1966 chevy pickup...is it the same length as the original motor and will it work without a lot of modification... thanks...

I think (man that hurts) a 6-banger is a 6-banger as far as 250cid. Chevy is concerned. NOT 100% sure on that though.

It would be like pulling out a 283 sbc for a 350 .....same mounts, same bolt pattern on the back of the block...

Like I said, NOT 100% sure...

what motor is in there now?

the 250 motor mounts are on the side of the block where as the oled six's were on the front of the motor .
i did hrer some thing about the timming cover from the 250 may accept the older mounts but have not tryed this yet though?
Does any one know for sure?I would like to know also.

oh yea ,the old six's also had a differant bolt pattern on the back for the bell housing too.
