About the only way you're gonna get an engine entirely clean is to strip it down and have it hot tanked in caustic soda, and baked and blasted for some extra clean.
Otherwise, unless it runs like crap, I wouldn't fool with it, other than scrubbing the outside with brake cleaner to get the crud off. But that's just me.
