Yeah, regardless of the engine you end up using, it will be the same method of moving the mounts back. Just the placement of the mounts may be different.

Exactly my thoughts, snopro.
I've been scouting for a small block Mopar.
I've found a few and other then the 340's they are priced better then a SBC.
I'd still like to keep it as much Mopar as I can.

Spent the day hauling junk to the road for the first of our twice a year Township cleanup next Friday.
While resting from that ordeal I started in on the shop as well.
I will be turning the car front to back in the shop. Just like I did with the wooden boat.
After dinner and much contemplation I went out and leveled the body of the Dodge. (More or less):p
It was down about a 1-1/4 at the rear from the front.
Pic 1vs Pic 2 which is how it sits mow.
My logic for this is that when I do the suspension mods, if needed, I can change the body position to get the stance I want.
Once again I refer to the vision quest picture from Rik Hoving.
The car sits level. Perhaps with even a bit of a forward rake to it.
Sorry Mac. No skirts. No speedboat stance on this one. At least not yet.:eek::p

Seems like the more I do on this project. The more things change.
I have 2 knowns for sure at this point.......
The stone stock S 10 chassis and the channeled 49 Coronet body.
Seems like everything else is up for debate.:eek::p[ddd

I've got a 5.2 [318] long block that came out of the '95 Dakota that I used for a donor on my current Willys build. It was running when I pulled it out.
No really!! I actually drove it 25 miles before I started to strip it down.

Free to a good home. I put it in my storage shed cause the heads and crank are the same as the 5.9s that I'm so fond of.

I'll meet you half way where ever that is. [S[S[S:eek::eek:

Early Fathers day gift to myself.
This replaces the one that I burned up after 10 years of use.
Not the biggest but I like the fact that I don't have to bolt it down.
I can drive a fence post in the ground and winch's hitch mount slides down right over the post.
My old one had a remote control which made it nice for single person use.
The new ones don't. Just a 10' control chord. :eek:

I've got a 12V version of that one. I welded the mount from my first one to my trailer to use it there, and have used the mount with this one in various places, on the tractor, back of the pickup, etc. Sure easier than a come a long!

This one is a 12 V as well, Bama. Got my spare battery charging as we speak.:D
For the few times that I need a winch this one will fill my needs.:)

They are slow but steady. I have a snatch block I use on mine to double the pulling power, but it also makes it double slow! One thing I like, when you overload it, a thermal breaker throws instead of burning it up. Let it cool and go again.

Started in mocking up the front sheet metal. Both fenders this time.
As foretold the front frame horns had to come off. DS is right at the steering box.
Next I want to put the gravel shield on. That will set the correct width of the grill opening.
In the last Pic you can see the lower hole in the fender. That's one of the shield mounting holes. In this position you will see about a inch of the frame top.
If I raise it up to cover the frame it would look better as all that stuff(Frame and steering box) would be hidden by the shield and the front bumper.
The down side is that it would leave a very small grill opening.
More on that tomorrow...

Put in one of the frenched headlights. Ill do the other one tomorrow and then after I lock in the front clip a bit I'll start on the grill.

Too warm for Torchies old heart. Yesterday really drained me.
Plus my one friend is coming over to plane some boards for trim for his house project.
90 plus degrees and sawdust.🤪
