So this little John Deere Mt was my dad's first tractor key bought the farm on his own. It has been used for various things after it has been retired from full-time farm work. But over the last couple years it has deteriorated. The muffler had broke off it sitting at my dad's place and got water in the cylinders from now it is time for a rebuild. I love him enough this morning to all over to his house since I do not have room in my shop. Try and document this as best I can but since it is at his house I'm not sure how much I will be there when he does it. He kind of gets a wild hair and just does things LOL

This is a great site. Boats, goats, sheep, cows. vintage farming with horses. You name it's here. So much info. I love it. I helped my dad restore a few. he had two Massy-Harris, two two Allis-Chalmers and three Farmalls.

My dad was able to get the John Deere put back together this last week. I picked it up so I can start getting it prepared for winter! Drove it around the yard a little bit just to make sure everything was good to go

I love those JD tripod front ends.
What's in it's future for mild farm operation?[S

LB50 -- Looking back to the parts pictures in post # 12 the valves looked real good for a tractor that had water in the cylinders for a time. Were they lapped & reused? What about the pistons? How many years sense the last motor rebuild? Nice to see old "Iron" on the move again.[cl

we actually did a regrind on them and the head. lapped then re installed. the cylinders where cleaned, then honed out. we re ringed the stock pistons and she now fires right off, even in the cold!!
