I think under hood is complete except for one heater hose, got to pick up a clamp for it, misplaced or borrowed the one that was on it. Still have to change the fuel line and filter at the tank, fill with water and some gas, then see what we have.

It's alive! Started right up, and we have drive and reverse this time. Only leak is my adapter fitting at the power steering pump to the AN line, gotta see what's up with that. Runs about 195*, depending on which gauge you look at. Had a plug wire come off, so it was missing a little on the right bank, going to have to get a set of straight boot plug wires, just too hard to put the 45* angle ones on. Still have to install the speedometer cable, and check out the brake lights before the first test drive. Hope the link works...

Just went out and fired it up again, man, this thing sounds awesome. Put a little fluid in the PS, it's leaking at the adapter fitting. I'm thinking I may have used the wrong fitting. I had two of the fittings that screw into the pump, one was O ring, one was male flare. Thought I matched them up, but may have got them mixed up, easily done around here sometimes. Now if I could just remember where I put those other fittings, I could do some switching and swapping.....

It'll be a while Odie. The tires on it are 10 years old and cracked like everything, so it's not going very far until It gets new rubber.

Had to order a couple of more fittings from Speedway. The fitting I had was supposed to work, but there was no way for it to seal, it just wasn't made right. Just gives me a little more time for the brake lights and speedometer cable before I venture out on the highway...

Got my adapter fittings from Speedway, that solved my leaking PS line. After I got it bled, steering feels pretty good. May still be a touch of air in it, but I think it should go away with use.

Started to have a problem cranking it, so ordered a new starter relay and a brake light switch from Rock Auto. Put the brake light switch on, now have brake lights again. Also drilled a hole in the toe board to run the speedo cable. I bought an adapter from Midwest Fords to use a screw on cable so I could use an original style cable, the speedometer end screws into the speedo head and the other is a standard screw on end. By drilling the new hole and rerouting the cable from the stock location I had plenty of cable, an excess really. Original routing was by the kick panel, it just made it about 6" too short to go that way.

Now to the step back--

New starter relay didn't fix the problem. I removed and cleaned all the cables, no help. Relay clicks, but starter will not engage. Can't even jump the relay and make it spin. Apparently my used starter died. New one on the way from Rock Auto. Getting closer!
