Great start to a cool little roadster crate!
The swoop of the rear edge of the cockpit matches the swoop of the front edge on the cowl😎
I’d get everything lined up. You may not have to mod that area at the rear of the cockpit. Just continue that body bead line across the door and the cowl.
Keep it simple and fun.

thanks Torchie.. there will be plenty of mods.. planning on re-instating the tourer seat panel.. will help in creating a flow in the back of the cockpit . the 1/4 modified to suit that.. also continuing the bead into the top of the door as the top of the dodge has a 1" bead round it that feathers out just under the screen post.. ?

i see where your going, . after Torchies comment im seriously considering re-skinning the doors to flat , - incorporating the 1/4 swage it would easy to lengthen them a couple of inches.. (this pic isnt quite central to the body )


for some reason every time i check with roadster google -obviously biased = mostly all i see id fords, thats good to give dimensional ideas this has lead me to research dimensions, quite amazed at differences . dodge door length at 20" ford =22" front bulkhead firewall dodge 26" high (and wide) model A 22" high..
, coincidently the body measures just a couple of inches shorter than an "A"


my semi cartoon after 1 beer ,, thinking of trimming the 1/4 to fit the Dodge as is plenty high and following the curve of the Dodge front seat bit like this ford..

Thank you to all of you guys, for bringing a concept out in the open that builders have to go through when they are customizing something. Occasionally, I see a hotrod that the builder just welded pieces on here and there, willy-nilly with no 'full car' vision. Usually he's trying to sell it right away, with very little success.
Anyhow, you guys understand the 'full car' vision, and talked it out. Now, if a newbie is watching this, he'll grasp this concept and run with it. You have provided a lesson in life.

ok gang,

phase 3 of operation roadster...

cut off the truck panel, looking to re fit the original tourer rear section..


im thinking the rear is too high ? maybe lower the rear 2"s ? ??

My 2 cents.
I don't see the rear as too high.
I like the fact the it pretty much matches the front of the cockpit.[cl :cool:
When you look at the straight on from the front pic of it you can't really even see that back panel.
Unless you are going for some sort of "T" bucket look I'd run with the way it is.
Are you gong to put the rear portion back on??? Or what???
That will make a difference too.
The way the cockpit are looks now is reminiscent of a late 20's era race car or even better an old Biplanes mid section.:cool:
Some sort of split wind screen would also be in order. At least to my eye.

Crate, maybe look at some pictures of other '20's roadsters, and you will see that the back of the seat is peeking up there just like yours is. I vote with Torchie on this one. You are doing fine.

Torchie, yes refitting that back panel, this will help roadster-izing the body....
like split screens but will be chopping a pair of stock screen posts, these old dodges slope backwards quite nicely


Mac .. driven myself mad looking at lots of roady pics hehehe .,. google seems to favor fords more than anything .. which is ok , but im trying to avoid the ford theme due to the cars mopar/willys heritage,

The stock screen posts will work to. Give it even more of a old hot rod/dirt track barnstormer look.[cl :D :cool: :cool:

few more hours spent..

removed to original door jambs off the tourer rear and made some flat replacements out of some 16 gauge plug welded them in .

tacked the rear to the tub..
