Nice pics! I really want a square back but I would do the full IMSA flares and make it an LS1 6spd car!

Nice idea, I love the radical wide bodied IMSA cars. I'm actually currently restoring a 1 of 1 street version of the #23 Charlie Kemp Mustang II for the original owner. I found this pic while searching for a IMSA style squareback...

Hey MikeR,
If I were to guess, I'd say that's a Ford 2.3 put on with an Esslinger kit. They used those engines in mid-engine dune buggies, tho it faced the other way in them[S Later--John T.

jcdvw66 I almost did the IMSA thing to my Datsun 610 in my sig but decided to keep the outer body all stock diamentions.

Hey jfg455, I just checked out your Datsun build. What an awesome car! I love the oddball cars, no matter what engine they use, 4 cyl, v8, rotary, whatever. Thats quite the project you've got going.. Love to see more pics.

My old drag bug. First pic was when I got it. 2nd was after the chassis was back half-ed and I painted it. Best et was 6.74 on a bad track spinning through 1st and 2nd no turbo or nitrous. It is now in KY running low 6's.

Looks like a 2.3 to me. And the mid engine buggies either have the ring & pinion flopped the other way or use something like a Porsche 914 transaxle.

Some freinds and some random pics. Sorry about the poor quality of some of the pics taken with my phone.

A very cool drag Bug, Timbo. Did you have trouble keeping driveline parts in it?

I had trouble with the Liberty pro rings wearing and making me miss shifts. I had syncros in the trans in my last car, ran it 10 years with 60 ft's in the low 1.40- high 1.30's and never broke a part. Its all in the rear suspension set up. I had friends that had cars 2 seconds slower and were always breaking parts.

Awesome metal work.[dr

I posted these on Earthman's thread, but I figgered they belong here, too.

Tempo Matador. Originally built with VW power.

Doc - Love the looks of Bugsplat. I like the idea of doing the motorcycle fenders up front. Some great metal work on that one. Do you know if there's a 914-6 on this one? The added room on the back would allow for it. Makes me miss my '71 bug.

Sorry Mike, I know anything about the build, and less than nothing about VW's. :(

Maybe Timbo or somebody else is familiar with the car? [S
