My Dad was a Millwright at Raybestos for 36 years. He had 2 large foot lockers of hand tools. I have taken some stuff that I figure I can use. We are having a tag sale to get rid of things at our house and figure I will grab some of the wrenches, hammers, saws, etc that are at my childhood home. I inherited it when they both passed. I was wondering what kind of pricing should I put on these things? Are they worth more than new tools? Most of these tools are name brands. No Pittsburgh or foreign tools. I have seen brands Wright, Armstrong, Craftsman, to name a few. Thanks for any info. Jim

Old name brand tools are usually better than today's Chinese made name brand tools. I have some Pittsburg stuff, but I have a lot of Craftsman, Stanley, Blue Point, Snap On, and Williams stuff that I have acquired over the years, some at flea markets, some by buying used boxes and getting the good stuff out and selling or giving away the trash.

Some of those pictured wrenches are OLD, I mean early 1900's. They will probably bring more to collectors or decorators than to somebody wanting to use them.

Everything has a price, finding the buyer willing to pay that price is the hard part. Last box I bought I gave $100 for it, but it was loaded with sockets and wrenches, mostly name brand stuff. I culled half of it because I just didn't need that many copies of things, just how many 3/8" sockets do you really need? I pulled out the best names, and left many lesser names like Husky and Companion. So, I'm probably not much help in pricing without looking at each individual piece.
