Actually it's a late '47. Identifiable by the fact it still has lever shocks, but has the smooth area on the outer edge of the kingpin boss. That is where they placed the hole for the tube shocks used on 1948 models. '46 and early '47 have the recessed area all the way out to the boss. They were prepping for the switch in late '47 by using the new axle casting, but exhausting the remaining supply of Houdaille shocks.
 
That chart doesn't show the late '47, hence the explanation.

Regardless a good find. The axle won't do you much good on a hot rod (too wide), but the backing plates, spindles, hubs & drums are crucial. The wishbone can also be made to work, even though it has the funky jog in it. Plenty of good parts there...
