im starting a project hopefully the rat rod community will accept it as a rat im starting off with a s10 frame a foot to two feet chopped off the back and the frame droped 3 inchs the front grille will be sheet metal with a chicken wire backing it will be a wide grille not like the traditional small fronts with open steering it will have a bored 350 somewheres between 30 and 60 with an edlebrock around a 700 cfm all parts will be fabbed for the cab and grille the bed will be wood floored and sided the windsheild will be lexcon as will the back both easy to remove for the warmer days open top with a leather cover when needed a 400 turbo transmission wood bench seat .... maybe padded ive got some really ruff sketches drawn in paint ill add soon

Theres a build of a early 70's F100 that you might wanna take a look at. Seems kinda where your headed.

If you've lurked around here much you'll know the straight axle is preferred, but build what ya got. The S10 IFS is just not as pretty, but it is a popular frame to start with. RRR is a pretty forgiving group.

the planning phase is coming along nicely i have just about planed out the brake system ...... except the brake lights that may take cannibalizing and reverse engineering on the other hand i have 6 more months before i can even start we've hit our 6 month mark in iraq it does make 6 more months sound like a long time but i guess its just more time to plan things out i have found the s10 frame currently still a truck its a 1990 for $1000 best of all i can drive it off the lot which will work out great because the dodge is still kia (dead not south korean) rip for the original 46/56 tranny ........ maybe mudding in a truck with a notoriously crappy trans was a bad idea ..... bah best not to dwell on that

thank you right now im just planing taking inspiration form everything i like from the way a car looks to the coloring styles of guitars i do plan on fabing my cab from scratch though but i will need alot of info on how to do things and other builds are something i do need to look at
