If you have an outside clean-out, it would run out there. Maybe not a bad idea for some situations. Also, the hot air from the A/C might evaporate at least some of the water.
Another Hyvac guy told me it wasn't a good idea, but when we got central air installed in our house, they just drilled a hole through the basement floor, and the drain pipe goes into there.
