Hate to lose this as it provided good shade as our sun is usually in the southern hemisphere, but I'm glad it went toward the lake instead of the house... I've posted pix of this tree before when my Dog Chief treed bears. Sorry for double post, couldn't dump it!
I misspoke on the name of the storm that wiped out Miami and Homestead it was hurricane Andrew on that one. Forgive me but I've been thru so many they all run together
That's the power of water! Unlike the Carolinas and other parts of the southeast that are mountainous, it's all pretty flat here and to wash like that tells you it was huge amount of water. I'm sure there is more all over around here. I hear reports but so far my travels have been short runs for needed supplies and no cruising.
That's incredible Smalls. Thanks for posting. Glad you made it through ok, but like the others have said - don't overdo the cleanup, it'll still be there tomorrow. Us "heart" guys need a little reminder (as my wife says) so remember that!
I finally got a pic of this. This catfish was found swimming on our driveway right after Milton came thru. Sorry it's so late. For some reason it went to my spam folder when it hit my email! There's still some water backed up out here but no where in the way. I'm still hauling debris from trees down. Unfortunately not many of them are providing any boards on my mill. When storms like this tear them up, the wood is so twisted and damaged you can't get good boards from much. I salvaged a few of the bigger trunks and have some nice boards out of red oak cut due to transform into a headboard for my daughter. They're currently drying and I'll get pics of the final project when I get it done.
