    Street/strip combo advice?

Seems my comp ratio is low for what I need. Dont want to tear into the bottom end of motor yet. What is the biggest cam I can run with 9:1 safely? I'm not worried about streetabilty too much, have other cars for that. This car is gonna be a "get in and rip-it hot rod".I was thinking thinner head...

    Street/strip combo advice?

Thanx for your response CR55. Why less carb and dual plain? I would think with the cam and stall speed I could build engine speed quicker.

    Street/strip combo advice?

Does this combination sound like it will work? Doing some changes to my lo-dollar rat 57 to make it more radical. Here is a list of what I have and what I want to do: -350 4-bolt 9:1 motor (lo-mileage stock) -.467/.467 110 degree cam -2400 rpm stall th400 tranny w/shift kit -3:55 rear gears...

    Pinks all out ?

Pass-time seems to be OK. At least the cars & drivers are real and I like to guess the ET( usually pretty damn close too, I need to get on that show!!!;)). I know what you mean about pinks, turned to more drama than racing.

    52 chevy

The frames are excellent on those cars. They dont steer and stop that bad if everything is working properly. If you want with all those new luxurys, then buy a newer car.[S

    58 belair help

The vacuum line maybe plugged still somehow. Check to make sure the line is clear with air or brake cleaner. Not sure if modulator can be adjusted, havent messed with an iron powerglide in a while, maybe.

    58 belair help

Still have the mechanical kick-down linkage hooked up? Try adjusting that, could be hanging up. Also change the fluid. Check and make sure you are getting full manifold vacuum to modulator.

    Straight eight Packard

I love the way my straight eight runs in my Pontiac. Has plenty of power for a heavy car. Has a unique sound. Everybody wants to pop the hood to see a flat-head inline eight too...Most have never seen one. As long as you have a good tranny behind it, use it.

    Hardcore Happening

Just found out about this show/party on the other site. It's this Saturday the 21st & it's only 20 minutes from my house, so I'm going. First I've heard of it. I guess it's been going on since '07. 60 & back hotrods, burn-outs, food, & camping on a farm. It's near Leroy,NY. Here's the website...

anyone daily drive a rat/street rod? in cold climates?

All three of my rods are my dailys. I don't have anything else or newer other than my Harleys. And yea, it's cold up here in Rochester NY a lot. I make sure all the heaters work. I don't drive the 57 when its slippery, it's plain too squirrely with the 4-speed. I try and keep the salt washed off...

    Chevy 307

Right you are zzrodder. Another oddity is the the late 50's GMC trucks using Pontiac v-8's. Also that turbo trans-am you are talking about actually used a narrow deck Pontiac 301 engine(called a 4.9 liter by the Co.).Had one those boat anchors at one time too.

    Chevy 307

You have the Olds version of the 307 from the pics, different animal. Don't expect a whole lot of power from these boat anchors. I had a couple and they nothin but made alot of cam noise and burned and leaked lot of oil and got terrible gas mileage. Worst motor ever made by GM in my opinion. On...

Tons of Old iron heading for the crusher..

If you notice, there's a golf coarse not far the place. That tells me everything. The surrounding richy neighborhood sprawl is rapidly closing in on that land. Makes it worth huge money for new housing tracts. This kind of thing is happening here. While I am no greeny, we are losing a lot of...

    Chevy 307

Had many 307's. Great all-around motor. Put in a summit RV cam & timing chain, decent dual plain intake w/ a latemodel quadrajet, headers, an HEI and your done. Get good power and excellent gas mileage, usually 20-25 mpg especially with a 700r4 behind it. Had this setup in my old 60 Biscayne for...
