    1955 F600, heavy duty build.......with a bus.

Here’s a quick render I did with a bunch of copy/paste to show 2’ longer wheelbase. Of course, the bed would be legnthen 2’ as well. This provides a 16’ flat bed. The first picture is how the truck sits now. The second is proposed 2’ stretch.

Yes, I have 2 more. But those two are for sale. I got them so cheap, I should be able to sell the other two and have 1 free bus. 😁

    1955 F600, heavy duty build.......with a bus.

So heres the question. I can make this chassis as long as I want now. Currently the bed is 16’. For now I’ll be keeping the original flatbed on the truck.......but I have pipe dreams to make the truck a hook loader. One where I can have a flatbed car hauler deck, small rolloff dumpster, cargo...

    1955 F600, heavy duty build.......with a bus.

I’ve set a goal to do SOMETHING wit the project every day. Even if it’s just sitting and staring at something to get a game plan for it. I fully expected to take a week to get the bus body teady to strip. Sunday comes. Saturday I removed two windows where I planned to cut the body. I decided...

    1955 F600, heavy duty build.......with a bus.

I’m actually quite surprised at how many folks suggest a change of plans by not using one of the busses. Other than a couple oddball measurements and pto adaptation issues, I’m not really seeing anything that screams stop.

Front fenders off the bus are fiberglass. Thought about that too :( However.....the bus will yeild a whole pile of usuable steel to make whatever I might need :)

    1955 F600, heavy duty build.......with a bus.

I thought about channeling actually. Wouldn’t effect the dump bed any as I would leave that where it’s at. I’ve never been in the passenger seat of this truck until the other day. It was then I realized how worn out the drivers seat was. In the passengers seat my head was only a couple inches...

Eliminate trans powered pto, use electric motor?

That’s a fanstsic lookin truck Mac! Our trucks are quite similar. If I could get some info on this pto drive, I could figure out what HP it takes......but unfortunately I’m in the dark as there really isn’t any marking on it that I can find. I was also looking at engine driven pto’s, but...

Eliminate trans powered pto, use electric motor?

My research is showing that this particular trans always has the gear in it for the PTO EXCEPT bus trans. I tried looking for a tag, but it’s awfully messy down there :) I just need to take the cover off and see if there is a gear or a tone ring.

    1955 F600, heavy duty build.......with a bus.

I dunno. This seems a whole hellova lot easier than tying to squeeze this rear end (and all of its components) into this ford. Engine is 1500lbs dry, and the trans is 550 dry. The steering on this truck is 65 years old, and not really upgradable if I leave the front axle. Then trying to engineer...

Eliminate trans powered pto, use electric motor?

Working on a 1955 Ford f600 chassis swap onto a school bus. Truck currently has a transmission driven PTO. The bus has PTO provisions, however not sure if it actually has the gear inside or not. Looking around, it’s a pricy endeavor to add a gear if it doesn’t have it, and I havnt been able to...

    1955 F600, heavy duty build.......with a bus.

I know the video is long. Sorry bout that. If you watched the videos, you’ll see that everything is lining up very well. Almost everything appears to be able to fit. All was going well until I remembered one important measurement to allow this truck to somewhat look Factory-ish. Measurement...

Tooooo much to type out, so I did a few videos. Sorry about the quality. It’s with my phone, and I’m no cinematographer. https://youtu.be/ddNalbq5Gbs https://youtu.be/jvMUJfp1zHM https://youtu.be/Q_Og2oaf0mA

    1955 F600, heavy duty build.......with a bus.

The plan was to pick up one. But I called the school district and they had all three. I asked if they were going to auction them or what and he said no. Just whoever comes to buy em, gets em. No time for auction crap. No time for tire kickers so he didn’t even bother listing them. All three run...

I have the option of 3 of them. None ate electronic. They changed over to that later in life. I stopped and looked at all 3 and I can make it work. Radiator and intercooler will be the problem.

Apparently I’m so profane, my phone autocorrects “shut” to another word that has an I in it instead. Sorry about that 😳🤣
