Who can answer a CDL question?

So I do NOT plan on using the truck for business. Mostly because it will be modified and the waters are already muddy with that. I tried lookin up Colorado’s requirements on air brake vs cdl and it’s not clear. It appears there is no “air brake cert” that allows me to operate a vehicle with an...

Who can answer a CDL question?

That’s my train of thought too. Truck is currently registered as a 16,000 gvrw 1955 f600. My only concern is if I run across a motor head state patrol and he see these bags under the rear. And the fenders widened to fit over the tires. It would raise suspiciouns and might get someone into...

    1955 F600, heavy duty build.......with a bus.

I would appreciate if you wouldn’t try to provide realistic solutions to my issues 😁 Yes, a rear axle swap would be simple enough. But.......but......**** your face an air back and watch the show 😂🤣😂 I hope you can read my smartassness in the text :)

Who can answer a CDL question?

Hypothetically speaking. If one were to install a vintage truck cab with a gvrw rating of 16,000 lbs on a modern chassis which is rated for over 26,001 lbs, would the driver need a class B cdl? Additionally, if that same vehicle is equipped with air brakes and air suspension, can that driver...

    1955 F600, heavy duty build.......with a bus.

Many of you will say it can’t be done with an engine of that size. You’re probably right. However, I have a couple grinders and a plasma cutter on my side. I stopped today to take some rough measurements. I’ll have to widen the front fenders at least 3” each to tuck the tires under it. Height...

    1955 F600, heavy duty build.......with a bus.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been here. Mostly because life gets in the way sometimes. A lot has changed. I changed jobs a couple times, last time was with a “friend” with his company. Turns out he was a better friend than boss. Then once we worked together, we lost the friendship all together...

    New from Colorado

Chuck came out to visit me a couple weekends ago. He shed some light that apparently there are more car guys then I am aware of out here. I’m just north of Elizabeth and frequent the sonic :) Small world.

'39 dodge truck powered by a 6.7 cummins

I'm pretty bummed about the PB mess. I, along with MANY others had TONS of photos hosted that are now lost. Making most threads, basically worthless since we all talk about things seen in photos. Years of valuable information.......gone :( Glad I was able to see your project before PB decided...

53 New Yorker frame swap ideas?

Hey guys. Picked up 2 New Yorkers. 1 is a parts car the other is mostly complete. The goal is to make a nice reliable family cruiser that'll fit all 5 of us and still be able to pick up groceries. I got the size of the car right at least. I've been searching for parts on these things and...

    How would you chop it?

I've heard of this method before but I can't wrap my head around how it's really done. I don't suppose you know of an example I can reference do you? I've heard of guys doing it with windshields to avoid cutting them up, but haven't come across one myself. I'm very interested in how this is done.

    How would you chop it?

Yeah, in the paper moch up, the rear window did end up basically unusable. I'm now curious as to how the glass is made. I think I'll dig into that this weekend during the daylight and see. If it's tempered it'll change the whole plan I think. You provide a fair arguement. I didn't really think...

    How would you chop it?

Printed out a few copies on paper and went to chopping this afternoon. This shows me that yes, I would need to split the roof width wise twice. Once in front in the wing window, and again right behind the forward frame of the rear wing window. Then I can drop the whole center down. Not sure if...

    How would you chop it?

Dangit, you're right. I thought they were locked in like the rear glass and not movable. Good news is they are binged on the front edge, so it won't be bad to modify. The wing windows with the pivot points in the middle of the frames are the ones that screw me up. Yes that makes perfect...

    How would you chop it?

Yeah. Guess I'm a glutton for punishment :) I'm going to keep the 4 door since this is geard to be the family wagon to haul everyone around. That whole back half is going to be a pain. But at least the rear wing glass is stationary!

    How would you chop it?

Finally bringing home the next project. 1953 Chrysler New Yorker Delux and a 1954 New Yorker parts car. I want to chop the top on the car but the rear window is going to be a challenge. Wanting to hear some input on how you would do it. I'd love to get 4-5" out of the whole thing. Below...

    Truck Rat Rods

Mine isn't totally fenderless, and not everyone's cup-o-tea, but it fits me just fine. I was going back and forth early on in the build about fenderless, but I just love the curves the rear fenders give the truck.
