    Hot Rod Poetry

Thank You, Smalls for the offer. I'm trying to bring over poems on a real computer but it is a wee bit older, I think 2010. I've been writing stuff in 'WORD' and this poetry thread doesn't recognize 'WORD'. When I click on 'Attach files' and go to my documents, I can only find about half of the...

    Hot Rod Poetry

My computer has been updated in the last year and I have to learn how to get poems onto this thread again, so here's another try. Nope, that didn't work either.

What Buffed Satin Single Stage/blitz black looks like

I was thinking of 'hand buffed', SnoPro. Anyhow, a little shinier than your rough half and still a wee bit bumpy.

I enjoyed that, Smallfoot. Carry on.

    Moving a gearshift.

Thank You Guys. I'm kinda' proud of that, myself.

1930 Dodge truck, not a Fargo

Looking Good, Bob. Could we get a full body shot soon, please.

What Buffed Satin Single Stage/blitz black looks like

Have you tried to get a finish about half way in between those two. I like 'buffed' matte.

    Moving a gearshift.

This picture is the finished 'fix' and it even has a little accordion boot to keep the dirt out of the slot that I made in the bottom of the plastic box lid. I have test-shifted it and it feels good.

    Moving a gearshift.

The first picture is showing the underside of the mechanism. I welded a rod on the bottom of the gearshift and bent it in a stylized L shape. Then made a clevis to fit over it and bored a hole through all of the pieces. The pin goes through and the shift rail pivots there. The added piece on the...

    Moving a gearshift.

If you have a nice T-5 out of a Mustang or a Camaro, it'll work behind most motors, BUT, the gearshift will come up in the middle of the seat in a pre-mid-fifties vehicle. Should you throw this good transmission away? --- NO. ----- You can move the gearshift ahead and be a way happier. Here's...

You got my vote Bob. Keep on scribbling.

So what do we do for seating these days??

I used Fox Body Mustang seats with the backs cut down in my '36.

    Hot Rod Poetry

Wow, Bob, my oldest daughter, who is a writer, could almost write the same poem. Her 'generous' Daddy gave her a Dodge Super Bee, [only it's a 1968]. He should give her a couple of Holleys because the old Carter that's on there is sucking air through places it shouldn't. It needs three gallons...

    Homemade metal lathe.

Today I finished up the gizmos that I will use in the tail pedestal. The first picture is a big plastic shaft with a bearing in the back so it will spin with the rod I'll be working on, 'in this case a 3/4" shaft'. The shaft fits into a half inch deep, 3/4" hole in the plastic blob. The second...

    Homemade metal lathe.

There have been some more improvements on the lathe. I've built a stand to hold the chisel against the rod and it can be adjusted with a turn handle. The third picture is my first metal lathing, it's a shaft to fit in the tail pedestal to hold the far end of the work piece rod. Today I made a...

    Hot Rod Poetry

I'm going to try once again to get a poem over here. Nope, I guess not.

    1937 Ford Pickup

I did almost the same thing, Kenny. Only I threw away the car brackets and cut a folding chair up to make brackets. Keep on tinkering.

    I made the cover

That's amazing hookery, ORR. The picture is not bad either.

    Homemade metal lathe.

A month ago I got a really good deal on an old wood lathe that had been outside too long and was taken apart as far as you can take a lathe apart, if you only have a burnt fence post for tools. But, I got a good deal. Anyhow, the last few weeks I have been fixing this piece of work up. The first...
