Overhere prices for quality anvils are pretty steep too. I think forge related shows on youtube and tv may have something to do with that... Now most think they have gold with a beat up pos boat anchor.

You could easy make one on a lathe or even with a drillpress.

No ,I don`t. When I used to forge for a living ,I had my threadle and powerhammers , 100t press ,coal and gas forges etc. to beat heavy metal into submission... Now the focus lies on sheet and I have 1 gasforge , my anvils and the old flypress to do some hot work. I do have enough hammers.

well, the whole idea is that it won`t move whatever I throw at it... 🙂 I welded 4 rings to the base so if needed I can chain it to my cherry picker and take it for a ride. ow, I just bought another one... poor beat up thing...380lbs Not sure I need it but it crossed my path and needed...

So, after I purchased the big 566lbs anvil, I cleaned it up and ground & sanded the face and horn to my likings. I`ve owned a whole bunch of different anvils over the years but this one surely is up there for hardness. That took some hrs and a bunch of abresives of sorts to get it done. I did...

Some progress on the new old dutch windmill. The top section is getting close to be lifted on. The red part is where the wings will be attached.

I agree with getting the front at ride height. I really like the bed being not square and tilted...! maybe a hair more? :cool:

I love gas welding but I hate tig. I have a tig welder without pedal. That helps but still. For one, the a/o torch is way more forgiving when it comes to welding contaminated material. Tig also goes too fast for my likings, or my circuitboard does not keep up with it anyways. I guess I`m too...
