    Klink's 1930 Chevy

I rode the motorcycle to work today so my sweet daughter drove to my office and picked up the box with the shrinker stretcher in it. It's been assembled and tested... it works really well. I've never used one before but it seems fairly intuitive. The test piece is 20 gauge; I was really...

    Klink's 1930 Chevy

The shear works really well, I squared off some 14 gauge pieces just to test it out, cuts like butter. I tested the brake on some 20 gauge and it worked really well too... they claim it will bend 16 gauge. According to FedEx, the shrinker stretcher is on it's way to my office, I should see it...

    Klink's 1930 Chevy

Some new members of the family. Got some new tools for the shop, a 10" throatless shear and 36" straight brake, both from Woodward Fab. Woodward Fab is only a few miles from my house so I picked them up. Tomorrow a Baileigh shrinker stretcher is supposed to show up. I originally ordered a brake...

    Metal Working Equipment

I'm planning to purchase a few "machines" for my shop and I'd like to know what others are using. What works and what doesn't. I'll be adding a brake, shear and shrinker/stretcher. The shrinker/stretcher I'm considering is a Baileigh unit. It's the one that comes with a position for both units...

    Klink's 1930 Chevy

The first one went pretty quick, the second one kept "moving" when I welded it. A few of the joints took a few tries. Hopefully the pieces that go around the wheel wells will go a little smoother...

    Klink's 1930 Chevy

I have a lot more time in it than I thought I would. Tonight I finally welded them into place. There's still a lot to do like make the door jambs, but if needed I could pick the body up as one piece. It's still fairly fragile though... now I'll weld in a few temporary braces so I can take most...

    Klink's 1930 Chevy

I'm still working on the rockers. The exterior sheet metal pieces are done, it's the structural part I'm working on. It took forever to get the two sides to match. Now I'm working out the rear body support. These pieces will tie the cowl section to the back half as well as support the doors...

I found a goof up, probably first of many....

That's amazing. They drove it this way? It's amazing the work arounds that people will come up with. I must admit, part of me would like a ride in it... just not too far.

    Klink's 1930 Chevy

Finally got some time in the shop. I got the drivers side rocker panel ready, it's all trimmed and ready. Before that goes in I've got to create a frame for the floor. The floor frame will also provide support the door jambs and of course make the body one piece. The first part of the floor...
