Thanks guys. It is a blast to drive.

Update what's good and not so good My wife hates dark interiors. She talked me into this light color - I wanted a dark brown or black. The light stuff is hard to keep clean and I feel like I need clean clothes to even get in. She's ridden in it once. Shiny paint sucks - well keeping it...

Update The wagon now has over 1000 miles. The brakes decided to make peace or maybe I just got used to them - anyhow they stop the car in a hurry if necessary. It drives and stops straight. Clutch works well. The 5.3 LM7 (iron block LS) is a great engine. Fun car to drive. The third...

    Chevy/Reo?

Around here we have to have shade. Way too hot in the sun. It will look great whatever you do.

I like it. I thought about doing that and decided I would probably forget the combination.

I have the new piece of glass and the new master cylinder, but haven't done anything with the wagon for a while. Decided I need a break, so I have been working on anything that isn't car related. And I get annoyed when I see the cracked window, so I haven't been driving it, either. I'm working...

    No other like it.

Earthman's right. Start them in the garage early or you'll be up to your eyeballs in nail polish and purple hair coloring. Nice to know you're back at it.

Pops, this whole engine swap really has me blown away. Remove the front clip, the cab and the motor. Drop in a new motor, reinstall the cab and front clip and get it up and driving. All in a few weeks and in the middle of a blizzard. [cl[cl[cl

Torchie, I-R-Pops and Old Iron Thanks for the input. Nice to have some additional things to look for. Frustration is the word. I haven't looked at it, yet.

I put some soft rubber inside the window channel to cover the rivets that caused the other crack. The new window lasted zero miles, 2 normal door closings and less than 2 hours. This one looks like it might have started at the bottom. Too irritated to check it out any further.

up I really appreciate all the compliments. And thanks to all of you who have followed along for 128 pages. I'm still slugging through all the little issues, although I'm not nearly as enthusiastic about fixing as about building. I pulled the driver's side door panel. That allowed me to...

    1955 Ranch Wagon Cruiser

Thanks, everyone. It's a fun drive and I get a lot of thumbs up. Old Iron, I'm very happy with the grille, especially since I have $70 invested in it and the bid to re-chrome the original grille was $900. I didn't like the original grille, anyhow. Still working through a few details to...

    1955 Ranch Wagon Cruiser

Thanks everyone. I am very happy with the stance - 2" made a lot of difference. The tires don't rub at full turn. It might be a problem at full turn with a bump, but, hasn't yet. The frame is lower than the rockers so they're protected, except from rock chips. The car clears the almost 6" high...

    1955 Ranch Wagon Cruiser

Update. Haven't posted much lately - haven't actually done much lately. I did get the dropped spindles installed. The first pic is before - front up, grandpa's tail dragger. The second pic is as it is now. I replaced the cheapo Monroe shocks on the front with Bilstiens. Huge difference...

I looks to me that you might be able to use the flange; get a few J bends and make that sucker go where you want it to. Your new one would be more efficient as well. Anyhow, carry on. We'll keep watching.

I thought those headers were weird looking since you first posted the pics of them. Now they're even weirder - at least the passenger side is. In the pics it looks like one of the middle pipes is really kinked. I'd be tempted to make a new one for that side. We don't have anything like a...

Slow? I'm impressed that you can clean up the shop in less than a week, much less in "most of the day". I've been working on mine for 2 weeks and I don't think anyone could tell. Interesting shot of the fan and shroud from inside the engine compartment. As always, thanks for keeping us in...

Cab fenders and hood come off as one piece? I forgot, did you have some structure that holds the radiator support to the cab? Lookin' sweet!

Its a little late to worry about the driver's glass, it has 1 full length crack and another chip. Looks like there are 4 rivets on each side. The passenger side rivets seem to be set a little deeper. I think it needs a thin strip of rubber or something. Wonder if that's why Ford put a...
