The clutch master showed up yesterday afternoon. I put it on this morning. But the pedal didn't move and there was the distinct sound of a spring binding. Took the master back out and took it apart. The spring was coiled up in the bottom of the cylinder. Straightened the spring, and got the...

I made a paper template of the bucket opening followed by 24 gauge steel to further refine the pattern and figure out where the holes for the tubes should go. Then I made it out of 18 ga Stainless and put in the holes. The bucket tapers, but it's a radius not a pure cone. The SS didn't want to...

A friend has one similar to this. He hates it. I do too. I think the turn/parking light buckets are the things that define this car and this year, so I'm keeping them.

Thanks everyone. I thought it needed a custom detail in the front. We'll have to see how the execution turns out. I haven't yet figured out how to get it built without screwing it up. It certainly is more fun than trying to make the clutch and brakes work.

Wish I worked as fast as you work slow.

International L122 B Binder Rat Build

Nice stuff, thanks for showing us. I often seem to have a difference side to side in something, like you're having with the tire clearance. Often it turns out to be small increments in several areas that add up. Maybe the offset in the wheels are 1/8" off, one brake drum is a little thicker...

Grille Got a chance to work on the grille a little. Been trying to figure how to mock it up and finally came up with the foam packing stuff that has been laying around the shop. Punched the holes with the same tube as the grille. The center of the opening is taller than the ends. I'd like...

Rear disc brake conversion with parking brake

Re: GM Seville 79-85 rear calipers I wish I had known all this stuff before I purchased my disc brake conversion, so I thought I would offer up what I found. Gm and all the suppliers state the the parking brake must be applied every time the car is parked. This isn't for safety, it is to...

More on the brakes and clutch Brakes: finally got a chance to get back to them. There was a lot of air in the e-brake caliper I had just gotten adjusted. I think I got all the air out of the system and I adjusted the pedal a little. Pretty sure they are working, but as others have said on...

I got a quote on chroming the stock grill - $435 per side + $40 for the center piece. The stock grill is not very impressive and certainly not worth $910 to me. So, my plan is to make a stainless tube grill that goes into the original parking light buckets. With the car facing the other way...

    1955 Ranch Wagon Cruiser

Thanks for sticking with me, guys. The last several months have been pretty boring and many of my posts got pretty whiny. Had a nasty rattle at a certain RPM, sounded like it was coming from the AC. Son-in-law helped me chase it down last night (his hearing is still intact). It was a loose...

Attitude Adjuster Had the wife push on the clutch pedal while I was under measuring the slave travel. On the second push the slave moved an additional 1/4". So, air in the system. Fired it up, pumped the clutch a couple times and drove it to the end of the driveway and back! Brakes stopped...

At this point I think I'm all cussed out. It IS getting pretty hard to face another round of fixing the same thing I have been fixing for 6 weeks. The AOD thought crossed my mind, but my hot rods always need to have a stick.

Man, have times changed! I can remember when 500 hp was just a wet dream. Even if you got there, it wouldn't run on the street and even if it did you couldn't get it to the ground. What does your truck weigh? Maybe 3000? Less? That seems like Hellcat territory. Your face is going to hurt...

The answers I got from the Brake tech Q and A solved the brake issue. Basically with the engine running, the calipers lock up with about 1" +- of pedal travel. Put it back on the ground, cleared everything out of the way ready for the first drive. Couldn't get it in gear. The clutch is not...

Booster takes pedal to the floor

Thanks for the help everyone. I got the wife to step on the pedal with the engine running. At about 1" of pedal travel all 4 discs are tight. Saved me a bunch of time chasing a problem that isn't there.

I got a different hood for the 3100 about 1 year after I had painted the truck. I painted the new hood with paint left over from the original paint job. Used the same reducer. Temperatures were similar. It came out a different shade and glossier. I think it takes a real pro - someone who...
