Wish I had something to add, but it seems like you have it covered. I can sympathize - trouble shoot everything and it still doesn't work. I gotta admit, it makes me feel a little better to know I'm not the only one with goofy mechanical problems.

Wow, congrats on getting it driving and on the first paint job. [cl[cl[cl I get annoyed at fixing stuff I already fixed, but everything will probably last longer when the car gets driven regularly.

I have had that problem when I shoot smaller items. My guess is that I don't wait enough time between coats. Spray for 30 seconds and wait for 10 minutes - the wait time seems to be forever. My solution was a clock. Is there a sealer coat (like epoxy) over the filler and metal? Contaminates on...

    1955 Ranch Wagon Cruiser

Update An acquaintance who worked in a transmission shop doing take outs and installs, gave me a hand with the transmission. He quickly decided I didn't have the clutch disc lined up properly (even though the alignment tool fit). He aligned it by feel and the trans just slipped right in...

I don't think I have ever heard or thought about sand blasting the inside of a tank. Good solution. [cl Got any sure fire methods for keeping it from rusting in the future?

As always, excellent work, done very quickly - nice. How do you seal the bottom side of the 3/8 round joint? Or do you fully weld the bottom and the top?

    1955 Ranch Wagon Cruiser

Yes. The holes in the blank and form allow bolts to locate and clamp the 2 pieces of wood together with the blank in between. The top piece is 1/4" smaller than the bottom. The bottom has the radius. The blank is 1/2" bigger than the form all the way around. The edge is just hammered down...

Radiator cover Still sorting out all the clutch stuff. The disc showed up today, so maybe I'll be able to get it together tomorrow. In the meantime I decided to make the radiator cover. Photo 1: Hammer form made from some composite decking, the pattern, and the blank. Photo 2,3 and 4...

I can't imagine re-doing those fenders or trying to match the paint. Show us how you get it done.

Sweet looking truck. Hopefully the new owner keeps you in the loop and you can see what happens with it. An empty garage is kind of like having a blank pallet, but kind of sad, as well.

    Bonehead is back to work

Customers like that are extremely rare. For a relationship to hold up through an entire build says a lot about both of you.

    Bonehead is back to work

Bonehead I am sure a lot of us hobbyists are interested in how a project like this comes about. Does the customer give you a list of expectations? Do you need to get approval for the concept or for each detail? Is there a budget? Personally I can't imagine commissioning something like this...

I remember seeing that demo in high school - but the instructor used hot dogs instead of actual fingers.

    1955 Ranch Wagon Cruiser

This one came of a 2012 Camaro with 12 miles on it. They pulled the motor and trans put a race motor in it. At least that was the story. I think the secret is having the correct GM hydraulic release bearing (GM calls it an internal slave cylinder) and knowing how to set up the self adjusting...

Thanks for the info JFG, but I have the stepped flywheel. I got part numbers from Mike at Ram Clutches. A new flywheel and pressure plate is the way. I

Clutch Photo 1 is one of the hydraulic release bearing fittings. Tried to get it off through the bell housing window, but couldn't. So I pulled the transmission away from the engine. Found the real problem. In a nutshell, the 2012 Camaro pressure plate has fingers that are recessed .5"...

    1952 F-6 Build

The further along part makes me think of my neighbor. He bought a running, driving '84 El Camino. So far he has found soft copper brake lines connected with plumbing compression fittings. Wiring that is probably going to burn it down. '80's cars had lots of vacuum operated and controlled...
