    Old man...dumb tricks

Ouch, and ha ha! I could write a book about some of the dumb things I’ve done the last few years.

Easiest way to find a broken wire?

We got a hawg leg now![cl[cl[cl Finally took her down the road today, man alive! This old girl will scoot! Pulled out of the driveway, barely mashed it, good googly moogly, it about got sideways! Looked down at the speedo, dang, I’m doing 70+ in about 1/4 mile and I’m not even holding it down...

    Covid

The sad part is, some of the after effects linger on. In my case, I’m still short of breath, tire easily, and can’t lift as much as I used to, and it’s been nearly three years since I had it. It affects everyone different, some have no problems after they’re over it, others have a much harder...

Easiest way to find a broken wire?

Snopro, you hit on exactly my next action. This morning, it started fine on both sides, then it got to cutting in and out again. I dove into the fuse box, pulling fuses, spraying the contacts with CRC contact cleaner, replaced a couple of fuses with new, others I scraped with my knife. So far...

Easiest way to find a broken wire?

I did, but probably not good enough. The ecm sits behind the seat, so it’s easy to get out, wish the fuse box was there, but I digress…The connectors for the ecm slide directly onto the board, no plug on it, just the flat board in a slot in the cabinet. Why they thought that was a good idea, I...

Easiest way to find a broken wire?

Fiddled with it today. Checked and cleaned the plug at the firewall, no change. Tried coupling both injectors on the good wire, got both to fire that way, but it wouldn’t run but a few seconds, must be overloading the ecm. Put it back they way it was, moved to the inoperative wipers. Can’t get...

Easiest way to find a broken wire?

Found a little info on the web today. There is a firewall plug connection I need to check. Other thing I found out is it could be the ecm. It’s looking like it’s the trigger ( ground) coming from the ecm since I have 12 volts on both injector plugs. Will probably try a jumper between the two...

Easiest way to find a broken wire?

Problem is I don’t know where to find the other end, at the distributor or the ecm. Guess I need to order a good wiring diagram. Really need one anyway, it’s got a direct short in one circuit on the fuse block, lighter, power door lock, power antenna, dome lights are all on the one fuse, it...

Easiest way to find a broken wire?

Bought and installed a new set of injectors in the Vette crossfire. Still can’t get one to fire. Not a lot of troubleshooting info out there on this ancient system, but I found someone say to swap the plugs from one injector to the other to see what happens. After I checked to make sure I had 12...

Looking at the ole heap and thinking what I spent on it...

I usually start out keeping up with what I spend. After a while, I end buying something and not getting a receipt or losing it, that will happen a few times, I lose count, I quit keeping purchases separate from other vehicle’s parts like when I order from RockAuto, by then I’m don’t have a clue...

    Covid

Going around here again too. I had it before they knew what it was. It’s basically a bad flu, it affects some worse than others. Good luck with it.

Momma got bit by the bug again, I had to make her happy

Yeah Snopro, I’ve got a nearly new Edelbrock intake in storage I’ll break out if the crossfire is a pain. I’ll keep the stuff I take off in case a purist buys it later on and wants to change it back.

Momma got bit by the bug again, I had to make her happy

When we sold the Firebird last year, we decided one old ride was enough. More fun when we could ride together instead of taking two cars to cruise ins and such. But, she has been unhappy since we traded off her last Vette. I was pretty well over that car, disgusted I could never get it...

    1927 Roadster

Probably got 28 spline axles from a truck 9”. Not a common swap, usually see truck or Bronco 9” converted to 4.5” small car pattern. 8” and 9” 28 spline axles usually swap if the length is correct. The Rolls rear is interesting! Reminds you of a heavy duty Ford banjo.

    10 lbs in a 5 lb box

My stuff is all mismatched too Bob. I’ve bought several hand boxes of tools over the years at flea markets and from folks needing a few bucks, then sorted through and picked out what I wanted. The rest I gave away to some guys who didn’t have much or couldn’t afford to buy new. I’ve got some...

    10 lbs in a 5 lb box

For the price, you can’t beat Husky. When I bought my first Husky box, I looked at the other brands. The Harbor Freight stuff looked pretty good, but actually cost more. Craftsman is a shell of its firmer self, flimsy and overpriced for what you get. I don’t know how the Husky would hold up...

    Idalia who???

Was just wondering a while ago how close it would be to you Smalls. Keep a watch on it!

    10 lbs in a 5 lb box

That's about the way it felt. Boxes full, had to hunt when I needed something that I didn't use regular. Every horizontal surface piled up. Got tired of looking at it, decided I had to do something. Been looking for a 52" Husky box, Home Depot didn't have any in stores close by. Could have...
