Thanks, guys. Today before Dan got to the shop I worked on installing the door hardware, like the strikers, latches, and the Suicide Door safety latches. We had it all lined up before we painted things, so it went together pretty well and the doors now close and latch really well. I also...

Thanks Torchie. I have to admit that I am starting to like this one a lot.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys, and thanks Dr C for the picture. I think that is my problem, I found a second timing tab that came with my engine on my parts shelf, and for some reason I used this one. When I get some other stuff done, this is one thing I am going to address. Tonight Dan...

Yep, I am really puzzled by that cranking issue. Like I said, normally, if you advance a distributor too far it will go R R R and struggle to turn over, but this one cranks at full speed no matter how far you turn the distributor. The other odd thing is if I set my TDC at 8 degrees advanced...

Thanks guys for those two suggestions. One thing that also has me baffled is, every engine I have seen so far, if you turn the distributor too far advanced the engine will have a tough time starting, until you back it off a little. This one is not doing that. No matter how far I turn the...

I may get to the point where I will use one of those to syncronize all three carbs, but for now I am just going to get it running on one carb and then go from there. Today Dan was going to come to the shop after work and do some things on the bed, so I got there a few hours earlier and worked...

Torchie, I have decided to just take it easy on this thing for a while, I have no deadline, and it isn't like I don't still have my 27. It looks like the Daytona Turkey Run will not be happening this November due to the virus, but we would probably not go anyway just to be safe, so there is no...

Tonight after dinner I decided to go to the shop and finish putting the last carb on the engine. When I got that done I ran a fuel line to only that carb and fired it up. At first it ran a little rough, but as it warmed up it ran much better, especially after I played with the two adjustment...

Bob, sorry about the loss of your good friend. I feel somewhat about the same regarding the carb conversion kit. It looked great, but I am not 100% sold on how it will perform in the end. My son Dan had an original 66 Olds 442 tripower setup on his RPU for a while and he never could quite get...

Thanks, guys. The older I get the less fussy I am............well, at least unless if you talk to my ex wife ! lol Mac, in a lot of respects I wish I had not gone with this tripower setup. I have always used two Edelbrock four barrels and you bolt those darn things on and forget them, they...

You are right, it was almost surreal to actually drive it for the first time yesterday. I think Dan was as happy as I am because as soon as this car is done he can get back onto his own project, a VW bug that he is building. This morning I woke up about 4 am and couldn't fall back asleep, so...

Today, August 29th, 2020 marks the day I drove my hot rod for the first time in 9 years !!!!!!!!!! My son Dan decided to not work on fabricating more of the bed today, and instead gave me his time to help wrap up a lot of little things so we could actually fire up and drive the car for the...

Haha, believe me guys, after that most recent screw up on my part I am checking every nut, bolt, and cotter pin. lol Yesterday my two sons and I spent the entire day sorting out a myriad of little things that need finishing up. (even though it was boiling hot in the shop) Dan worked on more...

Haha, we are still laughing over this one. When we pulled that brake drum off, Don said "Where are all the brake parts?" then we looked at each other and cracked up ! Old age is not for sissies. Hopefully, my brake parts will arrive maybe tomorrow, and also the upholstery guy has promised...

No it was one of the regular receipts like you get from Summit, Speedway, etc. I'll tell you, Dr C, it sure gave me a sleepless night until I straightened it out the next morning. All I could see was me having to pull out this engine and transmission, and it won't be an easy task in this car...

Yeah, I guess getting old beats the alternative. I had another little scare this week. I was sitting down, going through the stack of receipts I have for parts for this car, and I ran across when I bought the flex plate, it was right after I bought the crate motor about 5 years ago. When I...

Haha, yep, we are still chuckling over this little screw up. I think moving me into a retirement home is not too far down the road if I keep this stuff up. I also had a problem where when I put brake fluid into the master cylinder it would not bleed, no matter what I did, no fluid was coming...

Haha, kind of a funny little story happened tonight. I started bleeding the brake system and found a few leaks in various places, so my son Don came over from his shop and helped me tighten them one by one until we got the back brakes not leaking anywhere. But the fronts were still leaking...

Haven't had anything post worthy the past week or so, but we have still been making progress. Dan has been working on the bed, he got the tailgate bolted to the rest of the framework, and has been putting in braces in various spots. We have been lifting the bed on and off a bunch of times and...
